Disney Dollars?

We are going back to Disney just DH and I in October. DH wants to buy Disney Dollars this time. I was wondering where we can buy them? What happens if we buy too many? Can I exchange them back or are we stuck with them?

I'm interested in knowing about this too. I have one from 1992 that I got and saved it as a souvenir. I'm sure I could use it in the park buy why would I want to do that? LoL

Well if you buy too many you'd need to purchase something that costs say $2 (does anything?? ) pay with a $20 DD and get the change back ~ you don't get DD back you get regular cash/change.

They can be traded back for U.S. dollars, I'm assuming at the same place where you purchased them.

You can still get Disney Dollars at the Disney Store.

You can purchase DD at City Hall in DLR and you can return any unused DD for cash there as well. You do not need to make a purchase to get your change back as cash, they will happily trade them back for you, and you do not need a receipt to get cash back.

FourOrchards, yours from 1992 might be considered collectable now, check eBay.

The Disney dollars can be spent and purchased at Disneyland and Walt Disney world.
We usually buy them for my duaghter so she has her "own" money to use for souvenirs.

Yes they can be used at DL and WDW and Disney Stores. We collect them throughout the year from Santa, tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny. That way we have a nice amount when our trips come. The DL hotels can convert them into cash at checkout.
Some DDs are actually valuable. Since they change the characters and yearly themes, they become collector items

I buy Disney Dollars to give to my kids for their own spending money in the parks. Each child gets $5.00 Disney Dollars per day to spend on whatever (treat or toy). I encourage them to save up their Dollars so if they see something that is a little more expensive and they really want it, they can buy it at the end of the trip after they've saved up from previous days. It definitely cuts down on all those impulse buys and the numerous "I wants....".
