Disney Dollars.

Can you use disney dollars EVERYWHERE??? I want to start saving money but its so much easier to save disney dollars. I dont want to have to many when we go though if we cant use them. Can u use dd to pay for things at the resorts or is it just for theme parks.

We've never had a problem using disney dollars anywhere on property (resorts and parks). The great thing is that they give you change back in real money so if partially into your trip you feel you have too many, just keep breaking new bills and you get the change back in real money. We usually accumulate quite a few disney gift cards and disney dollars for our trip plus we have the disney rewards dollars from our disney credit card. We use the rewards dollars first since they do expire, then we use up our gift cards, then we use the disney dollars since we can get change back in real money if we don't need all of them.

I'm trying to do the same thing and stock up on Disney dollars and/or gift cards before going to Disney. I'm trying to pay for the whole vacation in cash so having these on site will make it easier for me not to pull out the credit card. At any rate, when I was at the Disney Store the last time, she suggested Disney Dollars instead of gift cards because every place takes them including the kiosks and little souvenir stands you might find along the way. So, I've decided to lay low on the gift cards and get mostly Disney Dollars.

We are turning our kid's birthday money into Disney $$ for them to use on our upcoming trip. Thanks to the PP who posted that you get change back in regular cash....dh and I were wondering about that.

I've heard they are good incentives for the kids leading up to the trip too. For chores or things well done. I may start doing that for my kiddos.

I give them to my kids for their allowance. That way they won't be tempted to spend their money before we go in September. My Disney store is closing so I will have to find another way to get them. Does anyone know if the outlets have them?

We actually paid for our hotel room with Disney dollars back over Christmas...

They're accepted anywhere!

As someone studying for an intermediate accounting final exam I just want to remind you that there are short term CD's and savings options that could actually earn you interest. Not a lot of interest they way the rates are now, but a little bit...like a couple of Mickey Ice Cream Bars worth...

I personally would do GC mostly and some DD as just about every Disney owned place can take GC. The only place I can think of that can't do GC is rolling carts before parade.
