Disney Dollars

Hi, I am hoping someone will tell me where I can get Disney Dollars from. Can I purchase them from the Disney Store? Or only at WDW? I wanted to start stocking up so I will have $$ that I can only use at Disney. I looked on Ebay and they want way over (in most cases) what it is worth. It is suppose to be traded dollar for dollar right? Please let me know! Thanks jen

I know the Disney Store does carry them, as I have traded my Visa reward points for Disney Dollars, but as far as purchasing them, I don't know. I've never tried to purchase them before.

You can buy Disney Dollars at the Disney Store. The Disney Store also sells gift cards that you can use at the parks and resorts.

You can buy them at the Disney Stores. We do this as well. It makes our trip TOTALLY prepaid, with room park tickets, and meals (DDP). It makes the trip som much more enjoyable. All inclusive Disney.

You are right, its a dollar for a dollar. But you get back USD as your change. The Disney Dollars come in increments of 1, 5 and 10s. The kids save up their change all year and we take them to get their own Dollars. Last year they had about $75 each. This year, so far they have $100 each. They love their dollars too.

We let them buy what ever they want with their Dollars. DD (the shopper) spends hers on the last day, after careful analysis of every store on the property. DS, well he buy candy, snacks whatever junk he can get his hands on. He did buy himself a monorail and he stilll has it. He already knows he wants to buy another one.

YEAH! Glad to hear it, and so will she be.

She tried to buy D$ at a local Disney Store in Modesto, CA. Plus, the sales asssociate also told her that the reason they were deiscntinuing D$ was because they did not want to have to give change (real money) back.....ie....better for Disney to leave the balance on the card.

You can buy Disney Dollars and Disney Gift Cards at the Disney Store. I personally love the gift card, however: the advantage of the Disney Dollars is that they can be traded back to regular US dollars at the Disney Store if you don't use them all. Last time I used a Gift Card, I ended up with almost $100 that I didn't spend, and there it sits. It can be used at the Disney Store and disneyshopping.com, though, so it's not a total waste. Perhaps the Disney Store that said they don't sell them was just out of them that day? Or perhaps the cashier just didn't know about them - I've run into that before and had to ask a manager. Our local Disney Store doesn't know how to reload the reloadable Gift Card either without looking it up and calling corporate for help.

Disney Dollars are only exchanged for cash at the disney store if you have the original receipt AND they were purchased at the Disney Store. When the Disney Stores were sold, this became the policy.

I purchased Disney Dollars at the Tyson's Corners Disney Store in late October 2006 and again at the World of Disney Store at Downtown Disney in early January of this year.

Disney Dollars are alive and well and available for purchase.

Our local (Canadian) Disney Store does not sell Disney Dollars

I wanted to busy some for my daughters for Christmas and was told they only sell the gifts cards. Actually, they looked at me like I was nuts.

I just bought some the other day. As others have said - you probably got a clerk who had no idea what you were talking about. Or just didn't feel like ringing them us. Every time I buy them, they make it seem like such a chore.

Ok, so I can purchase Disney Dollars at most Disney Stores. The ones I purchase at the stores I can use anywhere in WDW? DH is bringing me to the closest mall that has a Disney Store on Saturday. It's about an hour away. Thank you all for your help!! jen

Bump. And again, my Disney shopping got pushed back. It was for family though. So I am hoping for maybe Wednesday.. But I would like to know if I can use Disney Dollars anywhere in Disney and Downtown Disney. Thanks! jen

I know you can use them anywhere in Disney, and I'm pretty sure most places in DTD will take them too. A lot of those places are non-Disney operated though, so I'm not 100% sure about DTD. But they are great for using in the parks!!

Thanks for the reply! There are only a few places I would want to use them in DTD like WOD and Goofy's Candy shop. I won't try to use them at McD's now! Thank you! jen
