DD was able to use her Disney Dollars at the Virgin Megastore in Oct with no problems.

I give my kids disney $ every time we go to DL. One time, my DS used them to buy something at the Rainforest Cafe in DTD and they took them! So I think it's safe to say that 99% of the places even in DTD will take them!

Does anyone know how much at a time you can buy in the Disney stores? Is there a daily limit?

I've bought $100-150 at a time. They didn't say anything to me about it. It probably depends on what stock they have on hand.

The Disney Dollar daily limit is 500.00.

Its always a good idea to call the store before driving out there if it is far away, we do run out on occasion!

You can use them anywhere in the Marketplace and most places on the Pleasure Island side. Disney has a merchant agreement that the non-Disney operated venues will simply trade in the Disney Dollars for regular cash. The only time I was not able to use some was to buy cotton candy at Fantasmic from one of the vendors that walks the bleachers, he had just started and didn't have the change... I'm thinking he was new...

I will say that the universal gift card is a great option because you can add to one card everytime you want to and not worry about carrying around a bunch of Disney Dollars. But, you can't use them for vendors that walk around, like the balloons, light up toys and food sold during parades, etc. The biggest bonus is that if the gift card is lost or stolen you can get it replaced with the remaining amount if you have the receipt and card number, whereas if you lose the Disney Dollars they are just gone.

Ok, I have a question about the gift cards... Do they let you know how much is left on them after a purchase? Or do you have to do the math. Thank you for your help! jen

Well, I know on our receipts from the stores it prints the balance at the bottom of the receipt. I assume that it would do the same at WDW for simplicity sake!

Yes, when you make a purchase at WDW using the gift card, it prints the balance remaining on the card at the bottom of the receipt. I love the gift cards!!

How Cool! I never knew you could buy gift cards at the DS and use them in Disney! I think I may need to start loading up one of those too! thanks for the info jen
