Disney Dollars....How do you get them? What are they for?

Since I am a new DVCer can you explain to me what are Disney Dollars and how do you aquire them ? Is this a great way to save $$$

Disney Dollars are basically gift certificates. The come in cash-like denominations ($1, $5, $10, I believe), and have nice Disney artwork.

You can buy them at the Disney Store, mail order from WDW, at the parks, etc. You don't "save" any money buying Disney Dollars--$1 in cash will get you $1 in Disney Dollars. And DD are always excluded from promotions run by the Disney Store and other outlets. The only way that you MAY be able to get an extra perk is if you were to buy them with a Disney Visa (or other rewards card), which would provide some other ancillary benefit.
