Disney Dollars For ADHD Behavior Modification??!!

My daughter had another great day with her behavior mod in school...but still working on her organizational/remembering things. She still forgets to bring home the homework she herself writes down in her agenda.

I have also started writing her little notes and smilies, etc. in her agenda that she sees everyday at school...think that might be helping.

Another Disney Dollar for her today!! :cheer2:

Thanks for all the hugs everyone! Right back at ya!! :grouphug:

Disney Dollars are great for any kind of incentive, go for it.

Now beyond that, as a parent of a child with ADHD, I am a little concerned by your post. A teacher's suspicions and a ped's suspicions are not enough to put your child on medication. You should seek a services evaluation from the school and a full evaluation from a pediatric psychiatrist. One of the key markers for ADHD is the the behavior/systums are present before the age of 7. If these are now symptoms, it probably isn't ADHD. If it is confirmed to be ADHD, then I would recommend school accomodations and enviornmental/dietary changes first.

These symptoms have been present since she started kindergarten, but have heightened this year (3rd grade). Meeting again with her pediatrician tomorrow to discuss the pros/cons of behavior modifications coupled with medication to aid her in her present academic struggles. :scared1:

I applaud you in recognizing your daughter needs help...I find many parents who feel that this sort of help is failing as parents.

I would strongly suggest for you to have official testing for your daughter...a strong suspision shouldn't be enough (IMO)

I knew my son was ADHD to some extent (as I am) but it wasn't until the testing we also found out he has PDD (pervasive developmental disorder...a functional autism) and Tourettes. We too chose diet modification as we found he was intollerant to all wheat and dairy. We also started with behavioral modification. He is now on medication (50mg of Vyvanse) and is doing as well as can be expected in 5th grade. We continue with the diet and behavioral as well. We know that he will most likely need to be home schooled past 7th grade. He has an IQ of 157 so it is not an issue of understanding the school work...it is an issue of completing the daily work.

I explained this all just as an encouragement to have official testing done. Without that we would have a bogus label of ADHD and no real direction in which to turn.

I wish you and your daughter the best of luck!
