Disney does not want or need FastPass+ Haters business!

I see what you did there. Nice try, but no cigar.

Arriving at RD and pulling FP as soon as you were allowed to was "abusing the system" in a way that only a few "in the know" people could take advantage of. Exploiting a loophole to get extra FPs using "non-validated" ticket media is ok because "anyone can do it."

I was a FP- "abuser", so I never called anyone out for that. When my children were young, we got to the parks early, pulled as many FP- as we could, and hoarded them for use later in the day.

We slowed down on this as our children got older and "riding" dropped on our priority list at WDW, but we still pulled more that 3 FP-/day - probably averaged about 5/day.

I thought that people were buying an extra ticket to use double the FP+ and redeeming both tickets on that day. I didn't realise that they were booking FP+ on both and then still using the other ticket another day! Oh my I would never do that. If 3 is what I am allocated 3 I shall have. If I didn't like that I would vote with my feet not find ways of exploiting the system. Just my view. Please don't flame me!

In fairness to PP, I can understand how some guests may feel pushed into taking advantage of these types of loopholes in order to counteract the impact of the new system on them. But be warned... there are people here who used to lambast us ceaselessly about using a FP late even though it was allowed. The practice you described would almost certainly make those people's heads explode! :furious:

LOL - I know and am not concerned. I go to WDW 2-3 times each year for weeks at a time and I will continue to try and leverage my knowledge to my advantage. I am not in this to ride all day long, but I want to get the most out of every trip.

At some point Disney is going to link the park entrance system with the FP+ system. When that happens, this "loophole" will be closed and people will have to decide whether or not it is worth it to them to buy and use an additional ticket for additional FP+.

I skimmed the last few pages of this thread, figured I should since I've been seeing it pop up for a few days already.

I really hate the "we can finally ride TSMM!!!!" argument. Well yeah, that's great for your family. Guess what though? TSMM didn't change how many people it can put through a day. The only thing that changed is the people who hold the FP. It is now planners instead of early arrivers. Capacity is capacity. There are still families who "cant" ride TSMM because FP are out. Why are the bleeding heart FP- wasn't fair people not shedding a tear for them?

If FP ran out super early for TSMM in the past, then it stands to reason that not many people were actually able to hold more than 1 FP for it per day, similar to now. I'm not sure why people are acting like suddenly tons more people can get their hands on the FP. Different people maybe, but not much more. TSMM still runs out quickly when the parks open. It still does not have enough capacity to give everyone a FP.

And can I address the we couldn't ride TSMM before idea? Why not? The number 1 comment made towards people who dislike FP+ has been a condescending "you know you can ride stand by, right?" Well I say the same. The stand by line has always been there. Are you (general you) too good to stand in it, just like those snobby FP+ haters? ;)

Rant over lol.

Our favorite ride in DHS is TSMM - Our previous DHS strategy was to get to DHS 30/45 minutes before rope drop, I was the FP runner and would get out of the gates as quickly as possible, grab TSMM FP for our family as quickly as possible, then join them as they got in line to ride TSMM via the SB line.

Our FP would generally be good for right about the time that we got off of TSMM (have to be early and fast). So we now grab another FP, then ride SB again. In the "hoarding" days, we would come back later and use both sets of FPs. When they started enforcing FP return windows, we had to ride the 3rd time using the first set of FP immediately, returning later to use the last set of FP.

So, before FP+ we got 4 TSMM rides, spending about 60 minutes on SB lines for 2 of the rides. We will now only get 3, spending the same amount of time in the SB lines. I can live with that. But if I want those extra 2 rides I still have to get to the park very early or be willing to more than double my time spent in SB lines. On slower days, I can arrive much later in the day and still get my one TSMM ride in without spending over an hour in a SB line.

But anyone could have gotten to the parks at rope drop and utilized legacy FP to its fullest extent.

I think most of WDW guests want the advantages of arriving at rope drop with regards to the finite number of FP's.

50,000 guests arriving at DHS for rope drop is not possible for many reasons, not enough buses, folks flying in that day, folks checking out that day, resort transfers, taking a business call, coming from another park, fishing, golfing, jogging, working out at Ship Shape or Sturdy Branches, swimming, just hating RD madness, sleeping, relaxing, disabilities, slow guests in the party, a baby that finally went to sleep, west coast guests on 3 hour earlier clocks, hangovers, shopping, dining at a char brunch etc.

Even if it were possible-think of kaos.

I have no problem scheduling an attraction, days, weeks or months in advance. I book my ADRs six months out..no problem doing the same with FP.

Three FP wouldn't be an issue, if one or two weren't throwaways. Also, limiting us to three FP and one park is an issue for my family, plus the inability to "repeat. :thumbsup2

The "regular folks" know their way around the park. We don't spend half a day lost and asking for directions. I do have extra time to dine and shop. Although, the food is mostly crap and overpriced. Free dining destroyed our dining experience...as well as, the strict enforcement of FP. The inconsistent wait times for seating, doesn't help either.

I miss the hunt for unique items. We spent more than a few $$$$ on collectibles and...pins. My boys miss the Magic Shop (WDW). Now, every store has the same lame merchandise.

Disney has created problems, but so far, My Magic hasn't fixed anything.

A lot of visitors want to ride TSMM, not all of them. In all my trips, I have only ridden TSMM twice, because we only visit DHS every third trip or so. It isn't a must-do for everyone. :)
I don't care if we ride TSMM or not. We normally do ride it but only because we try to ride everything that isn't awful. We have other priorities.

I totally get that this system will be perfect for some and horrible for others. I am amazed at people who argue back and forth like they are trying to sway others opinions. I don't love FP+, but I won't try to convince others to not like it. To each their own.

The thing that does amaze me is how people are spending extra money to get an advantage. Buying extra tickets, previously reserving ghost reservations. I am sure Disney is loving that. More money for them, but I can't warrant and won't warrant spending more than they already overcharge. But again, to each their own.

And that was a great and valid strategy. I'm just really doubting there's even close to enough families out there who did what you did that it makes a huge impact dropping your 2 FPs to 1. FP+ has for sure changed the TSMM strategy and made it much easier, but the rides capacity remains unchanged. If it couldn't handle demand before it still can't now.

Your strategy does clearly show that TSMM was by no means impossible in the past, you just had to plan for it. Same as now.

FP+ 60 days for everybody that has a Disney ticket in advanced? Regardless of where you stay in the most fair thing imao. We are DVC so always stay on property, I like FP+ as I never used FP but I can see how others have lost out that don't stay on property. I think that's what Walt would have wanted.. 3 for everybody buying a ticket..60 days for everybody...I know that might not let superusers ride multiple times but with the current system it's the best solution I think.

I agree that this is probably the most fair approach. I'd like to do things like ride Star Tours twice with FP+ but I can see that that might be too complex at least right now.

me too re Star Tours :-) This would work because at the moment what if one family had AP shortly to have 60 day booking window hopefully and had visitors out of town buying a 5 day pass. How would they book attractions together in advance. Under current system they could not. With my suggestion if visiting family book ticket in advance problem solved!

What gets me is that the debate isn't even on the merits of FP+ anymore.

People posting their OPINIONS of why they liked it are being told they are wrong.

Also, you have to take into account that opinions on both sides of the debate are formed based on each individual's perception of the facts. Often, it's the facts behind the opinions that are really being debated.

agreed. Hopefully they will move to the cruiseline survey thread where things are getting heated...lol. A dress down suggestion and allowing children of 16 in Palo's is causing chaos :-)

I can't figure out what to spend money on. We could hit rope drop and ride some things before it gets crowded. We can then eat an early lunch like normal. Then we can use three FP+ since it has become crowded. What then? It doesn't take long to ride three rides. I suppose that we could do unpopular things the rest of the day or shop. I like to shop but don't see much to buy nowadays. I'm at a loss. :confused3

Yes, this is what happened to us in Jan. It was just sort of boring in the afternoon. We were done soaking up the atmosphere and didn't want to go back to the hotel. It was way too cold to swim, and the SB lines were so long we'd miss our ADRs. Not a horrible time, but the first time I've ever felt "Meh" at WDW.
