Can you avail of the Disney magical express luggage collection service if your flying from Dublin?.

since you have customs pre-clearance in dublin...

Flying from anywhere non-US requires you to collect your luggage and take it to the buses directly (they wont collect for you like the do for internal flights). This however is my understanding and I've no actual experience so might be worth talking to Disney to confirm if noone can confirm on here?

Not sure if this is what you were referring to or not. The buses themselves anyone staying at a disney resort is eligible for.

dublin flights clear US customs in dublin...
they enter the US as domestic flights..
though i don't know if this makes a difference for ME....

personally, i'd rather pick up my luggage myself and take it to the bus...
that way you have it with you when you arrive at the hotel, rather than some time later...

this doesn't make any difference
clearing customs in Dublin, or clearing them in Atlanta, JFK, Philly or Chicago will still see you as a domestic passenger in Orlando, just the same.

US guests receive special (yellow) tags, and attach them to their luggage. Magical Express will collect the luggage with the yellow DME tags

DME tags are not sent to the UK (or anywhere outside the US, maybe CA) so we can't use the DME luggage *automatic* pickup

makes sense..
in any case, as i said, i wouldn't want to use the automatic pick up service...
you get your luggage long after you check in.....
i prefer shlepping it to the bus myself...that way i know it's made it to the bus and goes with me into the hotel...

That's great guys thanks so much for all your replies. Do any of you know if it's possible to get a little golf cart or something like it to transport my parents to the Magical Express?

If you request assistance through your airline then they will supply either a wheelchair or this. I haven't seen any around like at some airports they just come if assistance is requested

you need to see this directly with your airline or with MCO (I think it would rather be airport services)

Still, I don't recall seing them landside. They're used airside. But I think you can request wheelchair assistance

you typically book wheelchair assistance directly with your airline..
i have done so for my mom both with delta and with KLM..
it's a brilliant service..
they meet her at the plane, take her through immigration/customs, then they take her to baggage claim and if she has only one suitcase, the wheelchair person takes the suitcase with the chair..
if she has more than one suitcase, they find a luggage porter who takes the luggage for her to her ground transportation..
together with the wheelchair person who takes her to her ground transportation.

in other words, the wheelchair person takes my mom all the way from the plane to her ground transportation vehicle...
it's amazing!!
of course, she always gives the fellow a nice tip....but it's wonderful..

and this is true even when i'm traveling with her...
i basically have to run along side since the wheelchair guys are so fast!!

hi I am flying with aer Lingus, but I don't think dad would go for a wheelchair. I'd get him on one of this little golf buggies though. I'm just worried about him having travelled all day. I'll try Aerlingus tomorrow.

my mom doesn't use a wheelchair except in airports..
it really makes it much easier..
my sister also now uses the wheelchair service as the very long distances in the airport are too much for her...

neither of them uses a wheelchair in regular life....but airports have very long distances to walk....

I have managed to convince him to get a mobility scooter for the parks. I think if I suggest a wheelchair when he gets off the plane he would be very upset with me. We're not flying til October so I'll work on him

Our sons a wheelchair user so we always phone the airline and advise that he needs his wheelchair to the door of the plane but we don't need assistance as he hates any fuss. Last year we shuttled down to Heathrow to carch our connecting flight to San Diego and were met by a very enthusiastic man with very little English who looked about 100. We tried to no avail to explain we didn't need help but he set off pushing our son at such a speed we had to run to keep up. Hope I'm that fit when I reach his age, he was so sweet - didn't have the heart to tell him I wanted to look in the shops as we raced past them all hubby was made up that he saved a fortune

Ring Aer Lingus at Dublin Airport & they will pre book Wheelchair Assistance ( FREE ) Both at Dublin & Orlando

Also do the same for Return Flight.

It is a walk to get to Pre Clearance Via security . Duty Free , ( Bailey's & Whiskey ) & down stairs to Customs

& on to Departure Gate.

At Orlando .. as pointed out ... you are a domestic passenger ... but there is still a long walk to the

monorail & then to the luggage claim area. & on to bus area.

RETURN Journey

After arriving in Terminal it is a long walk to Check In area & more walking through Security

And then to monorail & to Departure Gate

THEN at Dublin it is a long long walk ( 10 min ) to passport

Why not Buy or Borrow a wheelchair ?

I did as I am awaiting a knee operation .

It travels Free on the plane . ( It is taken from Aircraft door to Hold )

I would have been lost without it.

No point in being miserable ... tell your Dad.... swallow the pride . & enjoy himself


We live in Cork & travel to Florida every year.
