Last week, several movie/pop culture websites posted stories that a documentary about Kingdom of the Sun, the movie that eventually became The Emperor's New Groove, had been released on YouTube. The documentary, called The Sweatbox, was shot by Trudie Styler, whose husband, Sting, wrote songs for the original concept of the film. During the process, "through years of exhausting evoloution by committee", the film's concept changed and the songs were tossed. This documentary apparently tells the story of this process, and possibly explains how Disney lost its animation touch to Pixar.

I'm really interested in this documentary, but it looks like it was yanked off the internet before I had a chance to see it. Did anyone catch it before it disappeared? Or does anyone know where I can find it? Thanks.

I heard about Sweat Box and have been trying to find it as well. I'm not holding my breath that we will see it on DVD anytime soon.

I'm afraid that you're right, WaltD4Me, which is really too bad. People in the Comments section at Cartoon Brew suggest torrenting websites. But I don't do that. I'll keep looking.

Congratulations to all who could sit through that entire clip. I could only take about 5 minutes.

I just finished watching it and loved it. DH loves the emporer's new grove so being able to watch what took to get to that point was fascinating. Love these behind the scene stuff. :thumbsup2

Safetymom, thank you so much for finding this! I watched it instead of doing my income taxes. I hope that was a wise decision.

It was interesting to see what elements remained basically the same...most of the characters, the design. And although I like the movie it became, I can't help but miss the music that was planned for the original concept. Eartha Kitt was amazing.

Wow, that was interesting!

I admit, I have not seen The Emperor's New Groove, so it may have turned out to be a great movie, but to me the original concept looked much, much better!
