I will spare you the details of our trip in 2009 because no one wants to frown about a Disney trip on this website
, but I'll just say that the disaster was not due to Disney itself but some family issues. Sometimes it just takes a little more than magic for a great trip.
At the end of September, as we began to turn a corner in my family (yay!), my husband graciously agreed that we should re-do our Disney trip, a long-time dream of mine, since going to WDW in junior high.
This is how our family looked when we traveled in September 2009, staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort for a week. Our three boys were 4, 3, and 18 months.
Now, our family looks more like this:
Because of some of the things that have happened, we decided to just take the older two boys on this trip. It's really hard that the younger two will miss out on the fun, but we plan to give them their turn at some point. We wanted to be intentional about having lots of one-on-one with our 7 and 6 year old boys as we attempt to make some changes in our family. I'm really excited that I will have more to give to my boys with just two of them! With four boys 7 and under, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle!
Now for dates: It just so happened that the Free Dining Plan was expiring the weekend that my husband said we should go back to Disney, so I had to rush a little to pick dates and book the trip. Because we homeschool, it does make it easier to go just about any time! However, I was unsure of when we would have babysitters for the younger two and had to take a leap of faith that everything would work out. We booked Saturday, November 10 - Saturday, November 17 at the All-Star Movies Resort.
We had talked about staying at a nicer resort, but on the last trip, we were literally almost never at the resort during the day. I think it's because we come back so early because of kids' bedtimes. (Our kids are not good about sleeping in if they stay up late, so it just makes for cranky kids if we stay out late.) I decided I would rather spend less and do Disney more often. I suppose when our boys get older and do normal things on vacation like stay up late and sleep in
we will check into something nicer so we can hang there during the afternoon and do the parks at night. Anyone else experienced this as their kids grew up?
Itinerary to come...
