We just returned from WDW and I have to report a glitch in the Disney Dinning Plan. Our party consisted of two children (4 & 6) and two adults. We were there for 7 days so we had a total of 28 counter services, snacks and sit down meals. I noticed the first day that they did not keep track of which credits were used for the children and which were used for the adults. So, I asked the front desk at the Wilderness lodge. I didn't want to loose track of which were used for the kids versus the adults. They told me that currently they are not distinguishing between adult and children on the dinning plan. So I asked them directly: "You mean I can use all 28 vouchers for adult meals?" The answer was yes. So we tried it the next few days and there were no problems. We simply paid for the children's meals separately and used the vouchers for ourselves. We also used vouchers for an adult meal and split it among the children. I even asked two more times at the front desk and each time I was told that it was ok to do what I was doing.
This all strikes me as odd. I know half of the vouchers I had only cost $10 each because that is the child rate. Considering this $10 voucher got me almost $60 to $70 worth of food I was thrilled!!! I don't like to take advantage of this sort of stuff but when the representatives of the company tell you it is ok, then I figure what the heck, let's make it extra special.
I don't know how long this policy will be in place before this is corrected in their system. I hope it is soon. The dinning plan is a great service even when using it the way it is intended. I would hate to think they dump the plan because the employees were not regulating the credits properly.
Towards the end of the week, we had to make an effort to use up our credits so half he time we used it for the kids meals. Even this was a bargain. The average kids counter service alone ran $10 by the time you factored in dessert and drink.
All in all, the dinning plan is the best way to go. I think the dinning plan gives you more of a savings than the Passholder route.

Well that also depends if you are a family of 4.too!!
Just curious, how did you eat all this food??

I love a bargain so it would be tempting to use it on future trips but for health reasons we probably won't. Normally on our trips to WDW and even on the cruise we don't gain weight. But this was different.
Pretty soon people will be bringing "imaginary" children with them to Disney.
