Mulling over the idea of getting this card. I just purchased the prim Ap's last week and we are going in april with family ,then back down in sept with just my kids and wife. The april trip we probably will split time from eating in the park and outside of the park. :wave2:

I think it's not a bad idea, especially if you are going on 2 trips. That all depends, however, on how much time you plan on eating off site for your April trip.

Probably 4 or 5 nights out of the 14 we are down there.. The second one will be split too. I was just thinking that this is probably well worth it since will be doing one if not two character dinners the first trip alone and probably one the second one. The second one we will be down there only 7 days.

Then it does sound worth it. Those character dinners can be very expensive. I think for the amount of time that you'll be there you should do it. Plus, you never know, a couple of those meals you planned to have off-site, you may realize there is somewhere on-site you'd rather it.

sounds great. thanks ::MickeyMo

You pay $50 for the card and it gets you 20% off at many (but not all) restaurants. That makes the breakeven point $250 worth of eligible dining purchases, which DOES include alcohol. If you plan to spend that much, then get the card. But check the restaurant list first. Most counter service restaurants are not covered.

We just used it for our holiday. Normally we are not big eaters and tend to stay away from the more formal resturants. We do however eat in Hollywood and vince once and usually pick another nice epcot resturant. You also get 20% in more counter resturants in AK, so that helped. In total we saved $87, if you take away the $50 fee it worked out at $37. We are using it for our Christmas trip so that will be all savings.

I do agree it is a good deal for many people. Just realize that this breakeven point doesn't take in discounts that DVC or AP may already be getting. For example the person that had $87 savings from DDE - perhaps the $50 only gave $45 in additional savings above what they would have received with just using an AP discount.

Of course, DDE includes alcohol so one trip to Rose & Crown and you're set. :earboy2:

Excellent point. I meant to include that in my post, but must have hit "Submit" a bit too quickly. Thanks for watching my back. ;)

I was on the fence about DDE, but then I read in the Mickey Monitor that it also includes free Resort Valet and Theme Park Parking for dining purposes.

This is a great supplement to our free valet perk at the DVC resorts. We always visit other resorts for our PS's so I will be ordering DDE.

For those thinking about the holidays just remember...

"Certain restrictions apply during holidays and special events, please check with the restaurant when you make your reservation. Blackout dates include major holidays: Mother's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years' Eve, New Years' Day."

We could not use it during the Super Bowl this year at the "special event" they had in the bar at the Beach Club.

Don't forget though, if you buy the DDE as an AP holder, you already get free theme park parking. Some people may not get as much out of this perk.

Very true about the AP free parking, but I am thrilled to get free valet when I am dining at different resorts. All of this is playing into me wanting to try more and new things (aren't I just the perfect little marketing plan example lol)

Does anyone know if DDE discount can be used towards the Candelight Processional package?

We made back the cost of the card in less than a week. For us it is easily a good deal. For Disney as well as now we will eat more on property.
