Has anyone every used this? Do you have to buy it before your trip? If so how far in advance from your arrival? Any advice is welcome good or bad;)

TIA

I can answer some of your questions, but I haven't used it because I am not a Florida resident:(

You need to apply before you go. Membership dues I believe are now at $85 per year. I believe they recommend 6 weeks prior to arrival so the card can be sent to you.

I've had a DDE card for the last 2 years, and have never had any problem using it. You can go to the WDW website, click on the icon for FLorida residents and get all the info you need (like where you can use it). The card is good for 1 year, and it's good for 20% off food and beverages at most sit down restaurants at WDW for up to 6 people in your party- so you need to be spending at least $425 during the course of a year in order to get your money's worth.

nasmith -

my husband and i purchased the dde in january and enjoy using the card. we have really saved some money, especially when we went to v&a. anyway, i have one question for you. have you ever been at the park and decided to go to a resort restaurant without priority seating arrangements and not staying on site. we live in largo, florida and drive over to wdw for the day sometimes and was just wondering if we could also just drive over to a resort restaurant i.e., whispering canyon at wl and do a walk in for a meal? have you ever done this, or do you think this would be a problem? i.e., going through the guard stop and parking?

thanks for your help. :D

I've done that before- Just tell the guard that you want to dine at Whispering Cyn (or wherever), and he should give you a 3 hr. parking pass.

I love the DDE - it isn't just the discounts but also the special events. But you need to give at least 4 weeks to order it to be certain you'll have it in time.

Regarding just showing up at a resort restaurant for dinner - I usually just call from my mobile to make sure there is availability and make a same-day PS.

worth every penny.. I've saved about 1000$ easy.. maybe even more!
several big parties at ohana's. and california gril.. 3 meals at V&A's,
countless other dinners in the 2 years we've had our card!!

get it, and Enjoy it!
