I have been reading up on several resaurants and they say Disney Dining Experience 20%. What exactly does that mean? I thought a sit down meal was exactly that at any restaurant except the few that would cost you 2 sit down meals. The way I was reading it is... 20% off is you have the dining plan. Can anyone explain this for me? Thanks!

Disney Dining Experince, now called Tables in Wonderland, is a program for Flordia residents and AP holders. The card costs $60 and the holder gets a 20% discount at most table service establishments. The discount applies to food and beverage (alcohol included). An automatic 18% gratuity is applied. This program is not related to the DDP (Disney Dining Plan). In my opinion the DDE/TIW is a much better value than the DDP.

it is also used in some of the resorts. examples are here on the site...
We have used it in All Star resorts, Pop Century and also Port Orleans French Quarter. Also some of the counter service places in AK also allow this for usage........we love it

Thanks for the clarification and the update. We are AP holders and did not know this existed.

We've been using the DDE for the last three years and it saves us $300 easily since we do mostly sitdowns and resort eating during our stay. The fee is good for 12 calendar months, so some years I make sure to schedule 2 trips that fall within the window. You will find your waiters LOVE the DDE as compared to the DDP...we usually get a hugh sigh and a smile when we tell them we have the DDE. Since we all try to be smart about portion size, this plan enables us to eat what we want and not overorder. DD and I usually share an entree and if DH wants a beer, so be it. I always say that I don't want to have to think much on vacation, and the DDP sounds exhausting with all the restrictions, menu dos and don'ts, credits, etc. that you have to figure for each meal:eek: Just remember an 18% tip is included so you can judge accordingly if you want to tip additional or let it ride.:wizard:
