Hi can anyone give me an idear of a good non-charactor meal restuarant in one of the disney hotels. I am a celiac sprue and am unable to eat wheat.

that's the glory of disney... any disney restaurant, w/a little notice, is able to provide a meal for nearly any special dietary needs/restrictions...

all the resort restaurants can make you a meal... simply call and make your advanced dining reservation (1-407-WDW-DINE) and have them mark on the reservation your restrictions... ask for the direct restaurant phone number... call again 24-48 hours in advance and remind them that you have dietary restrictions and ask to speak w/a chef if you'd so like... when you check in for your meal, tell the host/hostess, tell the server and you may get to meet w/the chef to discuss your restrictions...

it sounds complicated, but it's really not... ENJOY! :flower:

As the PP said when you make your ADRs get the phone numbers for the restaurants you will be dining at and ask to speak to the head or one of the sous chefs. And make sure they make a notation on the reservation.

You can still eat at a buffet if you like again just call ahead to let them know of your special needs. It is very simple.

Thank you for your responces. I am loking for a suggestion of a good resturant to choose. I know I can't eat at Ohana (soy sauce city) but am looking for a really good family resturant that doesn't have charactors while dining.

are you looking for more of an adult restaurant or family? the california grill (expensive) has a great reputation and is in the contemporary resort... the grand floridian cafe also has a good reputation and is in the grand floridian resort...

where are you staying?

I e-mailed each of the parks and I actually got a nice, very helpful e-mail back. They have a long list of where you can eat and what is gluten free. My DD has celiac disease and I was very surprized with the amount of foods that were available for her!!! I would e-mail the parks directly and and tell them your situation and they already have a big list made up. ALSO, make sure it's listed on ALL of your dinning reservations!

If you go to the disABILITIES Forum and into the FAQs there (see the link in my signature) you will find a lot of information about special diets and how they are handled. There are also a fairly large number of discussions in the Forum concerning food allergies.

my cousin has coeliac as well. disney was fantastic with her when she was eating. we just made sure that on our dining reservations it was noted. we ate at boma our first night and the chef came out and walked her around the buffet and told her what contained wheat. he also came out with a dessert from jiko's after dinner since all the desserts at boma's have wheat in them. when at counter service, she just stayed away from anything that she thought might have wheat in it.

i also vaguely remember her having a list of restaurants at disney and which ones have wheat free options. that might be from that allears page on gluten allergies.
