We are going to WDW in Sept. and are going to take advantage of the awesome eat for free deal! It's pretty cool bc our then to be 2 1/2 year old and 3 month old are free :) My question is in regards to dining at the restaurants. Do they mind if you share some of your food with a child under 3? I'm thinking that they don't since under 3 are free...but not sure if they charge a plate sharing fee or make you buy a kid's meal. Anyone have experience with this?

They can eat off your plate for free, no problem and come CMs will bring them a drink for free. If you are eating at a buffet or AYCE meal they will be able to get their own plate and drink.

Yes! You do not have to buy them anything but may if you wish. All of our TS meals except one are Buffet or Family Style. We will have a 5yo and a 2.5yo. Our 2.5yo can pack the food away. We also like them because we don't have to wait for the food to come which is nice as well. Our 5yo can be picky as well which gives us a lot of options for him. He eats very little meat so buffets are great for him to get plenty of fruits and veggies which he loves.

I think you misunderstood the DDP policy. Under 3 are not really free-- they just are not included. You can't order any meals for them. Any child under 3, is expected to share off your plate. You cannot order separate meals for them.
At buffets, you can get them their own plates "for free." But at regular TS restaurants, your only option is to share your own food with them.

You can't order food with DDP credits, but you are absolutely able to order anything you want OOP for them or just share off your plate.

My son was 2 weeks from his third birthday in December when we went to DW. He eats more than his big sister, who was 4.

At Counter Service places, we ordered 2 or 3 adult meals and split among the 4 of us. We ate at 5 sit-down places that were not buffets. We were prepared to pay for a meal if he needed it, or to share from our plates since there was plenty of food for 4 on 3 orders.

At Whispering Canyon, he was allowed to share his sister's bottomless milkshake, they brought 2 glasses and refilled both and he ate off our grownup skillet plates.

At Ohana and Akershus and Sci-Fi and CRT, they insisted on bringing him his own meal at no charge.

At buffets, of course he was given his own plate and drink.

'Ohana, Akershus and CRT are price fixed meals so under 3 eats for free like buffets. It's very cool that Sci-Fi did it too! :thumbsup2
