Hi.. Our window to booking dining reservations open Friday.

We are booking jungle skipper and wanted to book another restaurant at magic kingdom. We are thinking Tony’s. How is the food?

We want to eat at the brown derby at HS.

Also if anyone has any recommendations for Disney springs restaurants, or animal kingdom that would be appreciated

I am gluten free but the rest of my party is gluten full.. lol

Tony’s was so awful the one time we went - I’ve never been tempted to go back...way overcooked soggy spaghetti with a bit of canned chopped tomatoes poured over it...can’t even call it sauce...
It was years ago and I’ve heard it’s better now - but I just bring myself to try it again..

Tony’s isn’t my favorite either. I’d highly recommend looking into some of the restaurants at the hotels. California Grill and Topolino’s are two of our faves now. We really like Yak and Yeti for table service at AK, but Flame Tree BBQ is delicious and quick service. At Disney springs, we love The Boathouse. I’m trying Brown Derby for the first time on my upcoming trip. We always go to Sci-Fi Diner (which is a family fave), but I’m changing it up.

I’m one of the weirdos that’s is happy eating at Tony’s. Half of it is the great location and nice dining room. I enjoy the meatball and sausage they serve on the spaghetti (you can ask for both).

I think the most balanced reviews say that if you are an Olive Garden fan, you will probably like Tony’s. If you have amazing local Italian joints on every corner, then you will probably hate Tony’s.
On the other hand, they are not known for any gluten free ingredients, so you might want to consider Liberty Tree?

Just going by your other 2 choices,,,Tonys will be a huge let down. We went because the family we were meeting had 2 young ones that wanted to eat there. Not one of us had a good meal including the kids. It was also the only place that charged the 2yr old for a small glass of milk.
If staying in MK try out the Plaza for a nice meal and good food. Or short walk and the Wave at Contemp. There is lots others that would require bus or boat.
You never said the ages of the eaters, that could play a part in it too.

At Disney springs, we love The Boathouse.

I second the Boathouse as a great option at Disney Springs. Also, Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' is a great place to eat.

As far as inside Magic Kingdom, Jungle Skipper is definitely my favorite (and I think really underrated). But I have a decent enough time eating at the Plaza Restaurant for another table service option.

If you have time you could check out a few ‘best restaurants’ videos on Disney Food Blog (YouTube). They do a good job of helping you decide what restaurants are good for your family.

Agree with this.

At DS we like Homecomin and at AK either Yak & Yeti or Satuli Canteen (QS).

We did Tony's last fall after hearing that it had improved when WDW reopened in July. It was better than before - certainly not the best italian on property but quite satisfying. I credit the new cooks and staff.

I had a nice experience last month - a glass of wine, a salad, and some fried mozzarella - all with great service. Was it a gourmet meal? No. But it was just what I wanted and needed. AND I saw the chef talk with a family who had some allergy issues and it was handled well with both kindness and humor.

Skipper Canteen is a mushroom free (and mostly gluten free) kitchen. It's always a good meal. AND I actually ordered the kid's steak

At AK, I like Nomad Lounge as my 1st choice always and am willing to get in line at 10:30 to get a table. Their churros are Gluten Free and SO yummy! I also really like Yak & Yeti - wonderful Chef Junior for allergy issues. And Satuli Canteen for QS.

I personally like the Brown Derby though some think it's too pricey. I have a reservation for my next trip!
