Disney Dining Promo Card

Put this elsewhere that I think this means the end to the Dining Plan for good. At this point they could have brought it back but decided a gift card was better.
Maybe this is a test run for a different kind of dining plan, like a dining-only gift card that guests can buy at a discount. Say a $500 card for $400. Gives the flexibility to eat what you want, when you want, but makes you feel like you’re getting a “deal.” I have no idea if that’s what they’re thinking, it’s just something that occurred to me. There are many other possibilities.

Yep. I agree. I think it could be the dining plan of the future. And the higher the amount you buy, the better the deal.

In theory I already get 5% off with Gift Cards and then another 10% or such at lots of places with AP/DVC discounts.

Maybe they do something though but simply in gift card form.

Yes, I was thinking this might appeal to the cash guests who would buy it as part of a package. And if the discount were large enough, it might even appeal to those accustomed to buying GCs to pre-pay their dining, especially the people who learned to do that in place of buying the Dining Plan.

At one point, that was the Dining Plan. You paid in $40 a day, and got back $50 in credits, good pretty much anywhere. (I think that was the price - it was quite a few years ago).

I remember we spent the last of our credit on a soda, at Port Orleans, and paid an extra 57¢ in cash. Not as good as the plans we'd had previous, but it didn't stink.

I agree this may be not so good news for the dining plan return which stinks for DVC members who usually purchase the plan. I know it’s not a great value, but it helps my husband to not see the dining money flying out of our account on vacation. We also tend to order cheaper items from the menu when paying cash instead of what we would order if paid with a dining credit. We can’t help it. Lol. I haven’t been to a character meal or ‘Ohana in so long!!! I can justify the use of a credit. I will not however pay $220 for breakfast when my 10 year old will only eat a waffle. I miss the dining plan! If in fact this new dining card is taking place of the dining plan I don’t see how this will ever benefit DVC members.

This is terrible. Dining plan was soooo much better! Disney will be losing my money. We always purchased the dining plan. Now we eat more offsite, with a couple dinners on-site.
