Firstly, Happy New Year to you all - hope you all had a lovely and safe New Year's Eve :grouphug:

As some may know I'm back off to DLP in March and staying in Sequoia Lodge. I am treating my parents too as it has been over a decade since their last visit and I just don't think that's right :rotfl:

I have read a lot about the Disney Half-Board Dining Plan, but I just cannot get it to sink in  - what do you actually get? I read that you are only able to choose from a set menu at the restaurants? If this is the case, does anybody know what sort of menu is available to Dining Plan guests?

I have visited DLP more times than I can even remember, but ashamably I could count the different table-service restaurants I have visited on one hand... My problem is, when I find somewhere I like - I tend to just keep going back there - but this year I'd like to try more of a variety of restaurants (Blue Lagoon, The Steakhouse, etc) and the dining plan has these on their list... but I just wanted to check what sort of meals we would be limited to if we chose this option?

I think I read on one of Lola's TR's that she has done this, and about cashing at face value? :confused3

DIS'ers, I am confused :confused3 , your task - should you choose to accept - is to get me upto speed with all things Disney Dining :rotfl2:

Thanks all :grouphug:

The dining plan gives you one table service or buffet meal for each night of your stay. The table service includes starter, main course and sweet plus one non alcoholic beverage and the buffet is an all you can eat with a non alcoholic beverage. There is a list of all the restaurants included on the website.
Be careful with where you choose when the parks close early as often the park restaurants are only open for lunch, although this can be as late as 4pm.
There is usually a set menu you can choose from, but this can have quite a lot of choice. You can also use your vouchers at face value towards a more expensive meal or meal in a higher category such as Cafe Mickey, Auberge de Cendrillon or Inventions.
As you're staying in the SL the Hunters Grill does a very nice all you can eat buffet! Enjoy:surfweb:

the half board plans really are not very good value anymore. the saving is very little and if you use them at face value you are not saving anything at all.

i would make a list of where you want to eat first. then have a look at the menus. decide what you would like to eat and see if the vouchers would save you any money.

the only advantage i can see at the minute is that your budget for food is worked out and paid for in advance.

Thanks for the replies...

mommy2ash I been doing some reading and I think you're right... probably will just work out better to use my ShareHolder card instead looking at things. Making a list of places I want to eat could be dangerous, I will just want to go everywhere :rotfl2:

i didnt realise you were a shareholder. in that case i would definitely just use that discount as you are sure of the 15 percent off.

Yeah I got my card last summer, it seemed worth every penny and especially now with the guarantee of 15% off regardless....
I'm getting all excited now :rotfl:
