Disney dining plan

Just wondering if DVC has changed things and they let you pay for your dining plan before you get on property. When we went in July, we still had to pay for it after we got there at check-in.

Not that I have heard. I understand the problem is that Member Services has no way to receive cash (meaning even credit card payments) for things other than dues.

I like to keep my money for as long as I can.

The answer is no I just tried this for our trip on Tuesday. You also can not use the card you use for online check in to pay for it. Member svc said it's because it's too easy to cancel the dining plan and too difficult to refund the money. You can always buy gift cards with the money to save it for the dining plan.

That part makes no sense at all - some people only have 1 credit card so I don't see why that would be the case at all.

one option if you wanted to pay for it before you check in would be to buy Disney Gift Cards. Then use them at check in to pay for the Dining plan.

I think that either MS is incorrect or misunderstood. You can use the same card, we did in August.

What you can't do is charge it to your room. The Front Desk will process the DDP fees before they let you leave the counter.

I think that you received misinformation. When we went in August, we used online check in and I put a credit card on file. I didn't realize that the DDP would be charged to it since I was planning to use my Disney Rewards points.

When I got there, they told me the plan had been paid for with the card I used during online check in. They did reverse the charge for me and let me use the reward points but did tell me it could take up to two billing cycles to get my credit.

I purchased 2 different gift cards over the months leading up to our trip in October. Then at check in I paid for the DDP with the Gift Cards I had purchased. This allowed me to "budget" our DDP over several months.
