Disney Dining Plan

The DDP is best useful if you are planning a lot of meals in the parks.
You can exchange your meal points for meals like Cinderella's Royal Table
or Chief Mickeys. If you don't plan on bringing your own food it is the best
way .You can get different plans and use your points at the resorts for
your meals and snacks or exchange them at different restaurants through
out Disney during your stay. Most of the restaurants require reservations and most
take one meal point per person but some take more.

The DDP is wonderful. We used it at our resort and in the parks. It is worth it just for convenience sake. We did not have to pay for a thing to eat while we were there. We came home on Thanksgiving and our trip had been paid off since May, I felt like we ate for free while we were there. The only thing we needed cash for was tips. It was a great part of our family vacation.

We loved the DDP! Ofcourse we went during free diniing so that helped a lot LOL But if you look at as if I were going to pay for the DDP it would have been $113.97 (plus tax) per day for myself, DS12, DD18. You get one TS credit, one CS & one snack credit per person per day. You can use as many of the credits as you would like per day. An example of our savings would be one TS meal at Le Cellier would have cost me $134.00 plus tax for the three of us. So for the $113.97, I got the TS meal at Le Cellier, a CS meal & one snack for each of us. We didn't use most snack credits, so we hit Goofy's Candy Co & stocked up on goodies to bring home. Worked out great :thumbsup2 & I would do it again, even if I had to pay for the plan OOP.

We love the amount of food the basic plan provides us and we have always found the plan to save us quite a bit of money...We like the 1 sit-down, 1 counter, 1 snack per day...It is usually plenty of food...We usually pay for a few more snacks or meals OOP but not much...We also really like the flexability of the plan...You can use your meal/snack credits in any order you want...You can sit down two or three times in one day and do all counters on another day...We also like that you can use ledt over credits on day of check-out...

Over all we have found that we save 100s of $$$ using the plan and that works for us :thumbsup2

I love the plan for many reasons. One as someone pointed out basically you pay for your TS meal (usually less) and get counter service and snack for free. (This is how I look at it) Also your meals are paid for before you go, I loved not worrying about sticking to our budget knowing this was taken care of. Just put the tip on our key to the world card and go.

We used the DDP on our trip in January (our family's first visit) and we are glad we did.

We enjoy eating out as a family so it was nice to experience all the places around WDW. Also, it allowed us to eat in places we normally wouldn't--like all of the character meals.

We found that by eating the table service meal at night, we maximized our $$.

Secondly, we have child with a peanut allergy. We found WDW restaurants MOST helpful and safe in explaining the dining options.

We plan on using it again on the next trip and try more places to eat.

I love the ddp. We are using it on our next trip because of my dbd and my friends hubby...it's easier and convienent than purchasing meals individually. My dbf never has to see prices when it comes to food and that makes life good!

there are stuck threads at the top of the board that go through how the DDP works.

The DDP is not for everyone. Like anything else, it works for some, does not work for others. You will need to do your research and determine if the pan works for your touring style and for your family :)

We were there last week and snuck in on the last day of free dinning, and had it for the week of Thanksgiving. The actual cost was just over $300.00 more than the fall getaway promotion with no food. I tried to keep track of what the actual cost of meals would have been it we did not have the Dinning package, and my estimate was $1600.00 - $1700.00. There was more food than we could possibly eat. We ended up with 2 extra counter services and 4 snacks at check out. We traded the counter services for snacks and brought home packaged snacks and pastries. We were there for 7 nights and I still feel full. It is not for everyone, but it was very nice not to worry about budgeting for food. :thumbsup2

Is it a certain amount of money or say you get so mmany points?

You get 1 credit for each the table service, counter service, snack for each person, for each night you are there...For example, if you are staying five nights, you get 5 tables, 5 counters, and 5 snacks for each person...There is no money limit...You can order anything from the menu you want...Each meal counter or table is one credit (except for the few places that requires two credits)...You can use your credits on day of check-out even though you do not get credits for that day.
