Disney Dining Plan?

I have heard this is a great deal. We are staying at Disney hotel's (Pop Century at Christmas and we haven't decided for sure about in May for the wedding) but we both have annual passes so the Magic Your Way packages aren't beneficial. Can we still take part in the dining plan? It just seems convenient and we have friends who swear by it...

DH and I love:love: the Dining Plan! Would never do Disney again without it! I believe in order for you to be able to get the DDP you will have to purchase atleast 1 days worth of tickets in a MYW package. Im not completely sure how all of that works but heres a bump hoping you get a good answer!

Not sure it would be worth paying for the tickets, unless they included the water park and we could do that cuz our annual doesn't include it... Hmmm... When we're ready to book will ask I guess.

Im not sure if this would work but maybe you could purchase the no-expiration tickets and then use them in years to come (or upgrade later to annual passes again from them). Not sure how all of that works but its worth a shot to ask.

We have APs but purchased one day tix to get the DDP. We will use those tix in the future. Hope this helps!

Hi there, maybe I can help! We went around and around with our coordinator about this because it's pretty confusing.

We have the wedding APs, and were told (like Maggie said) that we would have to purchase 2 1-day MYW tickets to qualify (1 each.) Then we were told that we could go to the front desk when we checked in and ask for them to be taken off our room card and they would give us the ticket on a separate card that we could then give to another family member.

So DF and I made a big spreadsheet of what we would probably eat and figured up an average cost and then compared that to the cost of the DDP plus tickets and it came out that the DDP would save us money.

After we figured all of that out, we called CRO to get the tickets and add the DDP and were told that we didn't qualify because our resort reservation was booked through group reservations because of the wedding and that since we received a discount on our room we couldn't do it :confused3

We double checked with our coordinator who said that was accurate and they're trying to adjust the availability for wedding couples in the future, but there was nothing we could do about it for now.

You should definitely do it for your Christmas trip, but keep in mind that you probably won't be able to for your wedding trip

A way around the "already have annual passes, but we want the dining plan" scenario would be to rent DVC points from DVC owner.

If you stay DVC, you don't need to purchase a "package".

Although I don't think it would work out to a big savings, since you're going during a high season in December, and are looking at a Value Resort.

Your other option is to get a Disney Dining Experience card, since you're an annual passholder.

Saves you 20% on table service meals AND (this is awesome) alcohol, too!

We are getting the DDE too and it's going to save us a bundle!!! You can use it for up to 10 people so it will come in handy for our reception and welcome dinners too...oh, and unlike the DDP, the DDE can also be used with alcohol! Woohoo! :P :cool1:

Thanks for all the responses. The wedding stuff doesn't matter for us because its at Shades of Green. I think we will just get the one day tickets... We have people who are thinking about coming to see us at Christmas and we can use it as their Christmas gift. :)

Sorry to be off topic but BubMunkeyBles, I just realized you have the same date as me!! Good choice, we're not getting married at disney, but we will be honeymooning there. So when I see someone else with the pins or bridal ears I will make sure to give you a smile :goodvibes !

If you aren't able to get separate 1 day tickets, you can apply the MYW tickets to new APs. DF and I have done the DDP free dining last year and will do it again this year. We had no problem applying the 1 day ticket to our new APs. The DDE card is awesome as others have suggested!
