Disney Dining Plan, Rainforest Cafe Downtown Disney?

I didn't think Rainforest Cafe or T-Rex accepted the Disney Dining Plan? This morning, while making ADR's for our January 2012 trip on the Disney web site, I searched for restaurants in the Downtown Disney area that accept the plan and Rainforest Cafe came up. It had a green check mark and stated Disney Dining Plan Accepted for the Rainforest Cafe Downtown Disney. Is this true?

Only for the Premium and Platinum Package Plans. The Rainforest Cafes still do not accept the regular or deluxe Disney Dining Plans.

I believe it only accepts the Premium and Platinum plans. Not the regular dining plans. The website is very confusing and unreliable.

Ohhhhh, so disappointing :( We just have the regular dining plan and I go so excited, for a few minutes anyway. Well back to trying to find a kid friendly restaurant that is on the regular dining plan and in the Downtown Disney area.

Yesterday I called and booked our August trip :cool1: I upgraded to the table service dining plan  When I was talking to the CM she told me about the Rainforest Cafe and T Rex starting on the dining plan. :thumbsup2 We are looking forward to booking our adr's and one of these will make the list for sure!

Which would be nice if it were true...but it probably isn't. Unfortunately at Disney "a cast member on the phone told me" is kind of like "a bus driver told me," it's not a good idea to believe it until you see it happen.

I'd suggest right now that if you want to eat at either restaurant, you anticipate that you will not be able to use dining credits to pay for the meal, unless you are on the premium or platinum plans.

It's still possible they'll add on in 2012 (but don't hold your breath).

I hear you!

During our August trip DH & I were told ALL the restaurants in DTD were joining the DDP.

Now, I did not post this rumor here on the boards because I thought the bartender at HOB had misunderstood something she had heard. But perhaps there is some truth to it. That would be amazing!

That's funny! I ate lunch at House of Blues when I was there last week. I had a waitress that has worked for HoB over nine years. They weren't busy so the waitress sat down and talked to me for awhile. She brought me a copy of the new menu they are rolling out Dec 5th and told me that it was due to the fact that they were going to start accepting the DDP in January. I asked her if she was sure and she told me that the contract had already been signed and the manager had told them to get prepared for a huge increase in business. She said they were going to start rolling out some chef specials in Nov, just to try out the new items and to get the staff used to giving their spiel. I asked her if she knew if any of the other DTD restaurants that don't currently take the DDP were going to start and she said she did not know. She did say she doubted if T Rex or Rainforest Cafe would ever participate, because they were always packed and didn't need to. Portobellos she figured might, because they are not that busy and could use the customers.

We now have SEVERAL reports that various DTD restaurants are moving to the dining plan for 2012 - but they're not from Disney and Disney hasn't announced. I don't really like to say this is going to happen until Disney says it will. And we wont' know that until the final restaurant list comes out.

This almost makes me want to schedule a 'just in case' reservation at T-rex for our Jan trip. But I doubt I will until it's definite - we have a very large group and I would hate to 'hold' those tables/seats on the off-chance that they'll end up on the DDP. I guess I'll take my chances that there will be availability if it is ever officially announced.
