The last time we did the DP was in Oct 08....has it changed since then? I know they've changed the plan to QS for Values and DP for Mods, but I mean the credit breakdown? My daughter swears that before they broke it down based on which level of resort you stayed at, you had 2 QS and 1 TS and snack. I'm trying to figure out how you get breakfast, lunch and dinner on just a QS and TS and Snack credit.
Any thoughts:confused3

2011

QS 2 QS meals, 2 snacks/per day and refillable mug/per person
TS 1 TS, 1 QS, 1 snack/perday

2012

QS 2 QS meals, 1 snack/per day and refllable mug/per person
TS 1 TS, 1 QS, 1 snack/per day and refillable mug/per person

Getting all three meals is tricky. Some people use their snack. Some people share a QS breakfast and a QS lunch. Some bring snacks/breakfast food with them and eat in the room. Some pay OOP for any meals not covered with a dining plan.

There is a Deluxe dining plan that does give you 3 meal credits per day and you can use them at either TS or QS and you also get 2 snacks and the refillable mug. That plan is somewhere around $75/day for 2011 and $81 or $82 for 2012.

Should be noted that on all dining plans, credits are allocated per NIGHT you stay at the resort, not per day you spend at WDW. This is very important as many guests stay more days than they do nights. On a 7-night 8-day trip with the regular dining plan each guest would receive 7 TS, 7 CS and 7 snacks. The allotments would be based on a 7-night stay, not an 8-day stay.

There has never been a Disney dining plan under the current system that included 2 CS, 1 TS and 1 snack per night, at any resort level. The deluxe plan includes 3 meal credits that can be used for either CS or TS and 2 snacks per night, and that's the closest.

The change to QSDP at values and DDP at moderates and deluxes is a change to the free dining promotion, not the plans themselves. You can get any plan you want at any resort. With the Free Dining Promotion though you get QSDP at values and DDP at other resorts and you're welcome to pay the difference between the plans to upgrade to DDP or DxDDP.

DDP has never included 3 meals per night with the excpetion of the DxDDP.

sharonabe listed the various ways that people use their credits to get 3 meals out of the plans. My personal preference is to place a grocery order and eat a quick breakfast in our room. Any of the options will work though. When I use dining plans I always end up with lots of leftover snack credits at the end of my trips so I could easily use snack credits for breakfasts but for me the whole eating in my room is as much about convenience as it is stretching credits and saving money; I don't want to shlep over to the food court to grab something.

Remember that you can use snack credits for things like bagel with cream cheese, large cinnamon rolls and other pastries and baked goods. These are very easily a full breakfast for many people. If you have a refillable mug (free with QSDP, around $14 with DDP) then you can get coffee, tea, soft drinks or hot cocoa at no extra cost to go with your breakfast just using the mug. If you have the mug and buy a CS breakfast then you can get a bottle of water as your drink and bring it to the park and just use your mug for your breakfast drink so that you're not having to later use a snack credit for a bottle of water. If you're ok with the taste of Orlando water then you can easily get away with never buying water (ie using credits for water) since you can get free cups of ice water from CS locations.

DH and I share 1 CS and a snack for breakfast and then 1 CS for lunch. Then we both have a ts meal. We never go hungry. We buy the combo breakfast and then a bowl of fruit and you get two drinks, so it's plenty to eat. Then at lunch we get another combo meal. If we get hungry in between, we can get a snack, but we seldom need to. We end up buying a bunch of snacks to take home with us. Hope this helps!
