Disney Dining Plan Question

I am renting points from someone to stay at the VWL in August. We would like to have the Disney Dining Plan during this stay but I have a couple of questions about this.
1) Do I have to buy park tickets from Disney for this or is it enough that a DVC member is adding this to our reservation? I just ordered part tickets from ticketmania and will cancel them if I need to buy them from Disney.
2) Will this cover all the days that we are staying there or only the ones that we are staying on points. The member is booking cash nights for the weekend to save us money in the long run from his rental charge.

I guess I am confused after reading at allearsnet.com about how to get the dining plan. Can someone please clarify this for me.
Thanks.

The DDP is paid for at check in and I believe it covers all nights on your reservation. And you have to buy separate park tickets.

What causes me the confusion is can I get the DDP while I am staying on cash reservations or only when I am staying on the Points. He said that he was going to link the cash and points for me as one reservation. I am finding conflicting information about if it can be on both or just the points.

If the reservations are linked, it is considered one reservation (assuming you are not changing room types) and the DDP will be for the entire length of stay.

You may buy park tickets anywhere you wish, there is no ticket requirement to add the DDP through DVC.

Chuck, as far as I knew, DVC cash reservations are not eligible for the Dining Plan. This is news to me. I'll go update the FAQ!

I think Bicker is correct. I don't think DVC cash ressies have dining plan available. I also do not think a DVC cash rate can be used for a renter or guest....The Member must be staying in the room.

There have been reports here in the not too distant past that MS is no longer requiring the member to be staying in the room to book nights for cash. Perhaps it is just another example of MS' inconsistency, though.

My understanding is that if MS books the entire reservation - even if some or all of the nights are paid for with cash, the reservation is eligible for the Dining Plan.

My advice to the OP is to tell the member that you want the DP for all nights (assuming you do). If he/she is able to book you via MS for both points and cash, you'll be all set for the entire stay at the DVC resort.

That's my understanding as well -- although we have never done it. It is not the way the DDP was first announced, but I'm pretty sure I've heard that being true.

It's not outside the realm of possibility that this is one of those "...if you don't like the answer you get, call back" issues. There's pixie dust, and then there's persistence... Both often work.

No requirement for the member to be present for cash but there is a requirement for the member to be present for the 25%cash discount. If this is linked, it is one stay and one can get the DDP for the entire stay and if you get it must do so for the entire stay (points plus cash nights). If not linked, you will likely have to change rooms for the transition from one to the other.

For cash through DVC IT IS treated just like a points reservation in terms of DDP, housekeeping, etc.
