Disney Dining Plan 101 help

Thought it would be best to start this thread as I have a number of DDP questions for our first onsite trip this summer.

Will start of with the first 2.

Regarding the DDP credits we will get a quick service, table service and snack for each day. Eveyone also gets a refillable resort mug.
Therefore if I have got my maths right it is 14 days x 5 people is 70 credits. Are the credits added to everyone's keys to the world card or I am the sole keeper of the party's credits?

Now that Disney has introduced the cancellation policy I wonder how this will affect our ADRs. If I book a restaurant for the 5 of us but we share and only order 4 meals, will this mean that we are penalised for the 1 person not using a credit?

You get credits per Night of your reservation so for 14 nights x 5 people = 70 credits. All credits will be on all cards but only one is needed to pay.

The reservation is booked per person and as long as you turn up you will not be charged.

One point to note all the 1TS meals that require a CC are fixed price so you will all be charged anyway. The signatures are a la carte but small portions probably not big enough to share.

Yes 70 TS credits.

Credits are per night so 14 nights for 5 adults is 70 credits. Spend them how you wish eg 2 one day, none the next etc

Credits for everyone in the room are on all keys so split up if you wish.

Or one person can pay for all 5 of you with one card if you are together.

If you lose track of credits at the bottom of your receipt it says how many of that thype you have left eg if you buy a snack it says you have 30 snack credits left.

The hotel desk will also give you a print out if you ask.

Sorry don't know answer re new adr policy - maybe ask on restaurant board?

I can understand why Disney have to do this. Though given our youngest (although 10 on this trip) eats very I might change the booking to 4. That will give us extra credits to use for Hoop dee Do and Spirit of Aloha that we have on the plan.

One option at TS places (not buffets/family style) would be to just pay out of pocket for a kids meal for the 10 year old and save their adult credits.

Sorry on the ADR you need the number of people present. Regardless of the number eating. At all restaurants except fixed price buffet and all you care to eat meals you can share no problems and you will not get hit with the cc charge.

At the fixed price meals everyone present will be charged a credit.

If you do share 4 meals between the 5 of you, you are not penalised for it, it just stays there.

You only get charged $10 per person if you dont show to an adr, if you cancel within 24 hours then nothing gets charged

For Fantasmic dinner package we are hoping to do either Hollywood & Vine or Mama Melrose for the 1TS dinner.

Apart from Brown Derby are there any other restaurants that participate in the dinner package?

What are the times that you can eat at, bearing in mind that our preference is for the 1st viewing of Fantasmic?

Fantasmic dinner dates are only showing up to the end of May. Any guesses when June and July will be released?

Yeah, that's exactly what it will do. As mentioned before by someone else up for there ^ your remaining points/credits will be on the bottom of every bill, even when buying a snack. We discovered at the end we had 39 odd snack points left. Perfect for buying presents for everyone back home!

No only those three participate, and for choice I'd go for Mama Melrose, I've eaten at there and Hollywood & Vine and MM is much better in my opinion

Think about eating as a late lunch or early dinner, last time you can have is 5 or half 5 I think, I'm not too sure. The dates should be released some time between February and March

Sorry if I confused you by my other post - what I was trying to say was that all of the restaurants that are 1TS credit that also require a CC are fixed price so as long as 5 of you turn no CC charge however you will all also be charged a credit for eating.

At a la carte restaurants they don't mind people sharing at all and as long as 5 people turn up there will be no CC charge.

Only the 3 restaurants - I would always book MM. Again you will all be charged as it isn't just a meal. Its a fixed price package.

ADR times are for lunch and early dinner up to 5pm. The package is only available for the first showing anyway.

I tried putting in a date for June and it jumps back, so I don't think this is an option

You need to make the restaurant reservations for the total number of people who are going to be seated at the table because of the fire code occupancy limits.

If you make the reservation for only 4 people and 5 show up, the restaurant may or may not seat one person in your group depending on how crowded it is. They'll do the best they can, but there's always the possibility of not being seated.

If you are ordering from a menu not every one has to use a credit even if it has a credit card guarantee. If you are at a buffet, all you care to eat restaurant, or a prepaid dinner show, everyone will be charged regardless of how much they eat.

Many restaurants, especially the ones operated by Disney, will allow you to order from the children's menu regardless of age so if your 10 year old finds something this is another option to consider. Just ask when you're seated. In this case you can pay out of pocket since using an adult credit for a child's meal isn't cost effective and you save yet another credit for a Signature restaurant, CRT or a dinner show like Hoop De Doo.

My son is a small eater, at Nacoossiss we have done 2 things, 1st time used 4 ts for 2 adults & paid oops for a childs main course, 2nd time used 4 again but this time split a surf & turf meal. (ds wanted to try lobster) This year we are going to pay oops for a kids steak.
(wasn't too keen on lobster).

We did this on a couple of occasions back in 2010 - DD was quite a fussy eater, so she ate from the childrens menu. One place we did have problems at was Le Cellier - even though we had paid OOP for a child meal at the Captain's Grille the previous evening, the staff at Le Cellier weren't for making it easy!! In the end, we used a TS on a child meal for her, but when her pizza came it was without the veg/fuit accompaniments, and the lame explanation was that if it had have done, she would not have been able to have an adult dessert

Unfortunately they were right in a way - if it was one of the "complete" meals on the kids menu the fruit veg sides are in place of the starter & dessert.

Stupid I know but they are the rules - most restaurants make it a bit easier but some don't
