Disney Dining Payment

The last time we were in Disney (11/09), I remember paying for our dining when we arrived (using Disney Reward Dollars primarily). I just got the DVC email yesterday stating that starting on 10/11, you have to pay for Disney Dining when you make reservation. The DVC website says you have to pay for it immediately.

Am I totally confused?

Is there any benefit to making the Disney Dining reservation before the 11th? We aren't going until 12/28.

Hope someone can help lessen the confusion. Thanks!

If you add the Dining Plan to your reservation before Oct 14, you will pay for it at check-in.
