Just saw this for 2018...

Disney is always changing to make sure that their guests get the most out what they’re paying for, but the company also tries to stay within reason. The Disney Dining Plan is a very popular add-on to Walt Disney World vacation packages, and it is possible that a big change could increase its popularity in 2018. It is now being said that the plan could be altered for next year so that guests can have an alcoholic beverage included in their meal credits.

Given that a Disney adult is 10, making adult packages include it would be a ridiculous idea! So an add on makes sense.

I hope so. But that doesn't stop them from including it on dessert parties.

If it does not raise the cost of the DDP then I think it's a nice trade off.

I still hate the DDP, but this would help the "value" aspect.

I could only really see this being added to the DDP, or an even higher level option. Seems like it would cost more money than it is worth in Disney's case, so I'm not going to be suprised if it is not true.

A few years ago there was a "wine and dine" option. Don't remember now how much it was, but you could add it to the plans...can't find any reference now in all of my trip planning folders...but I don't think it was too much increase.

Wine and Dine Add-On Option
Disney Dining Plan
(**THIS OPTION IS NO LONGER OFFERED**)

The Wine and Dine plan is an add-on option for the Disney Dining Plans. In order to add this option, you must purchase a Disney World Vacation Package that includes either the basic Disney Dining Plan or the Deluxe Dining Plan.

Purchasing one of these Disney Dining Plans allows you to have an almost all-inclusive Disney vacation (almost because the gratuity is not included!)

A side note about gratuities.

Gratuities are not included in the above price.

Just so you know, when dining at Disney, an 18% gratuity is automatically added for parties of 6 or more.

Disney Wine and Dine Add-on Prices:

$39.99 per night per room

WHAT do I get with the Wine Add-On Plan?

The Dining Plan Wine Add-on Option includes:

  • Your choice of one bottle of wine per night per room from a designated wine list.
NOTES:

  • The choice of wine mentioned above is per room, per night of your package stay.
  • The plan is only available at select locations at the Walt Disney World Resort
  • You must purchase this plan for each night of your package stay.
So, a guest staying for 5 nights would be entitled to 5 bottles of wine to be chosen and used however he wishes throughout the length of his stay. A family of 4 (all over age 3), would still only receive a total of 5 bottles of wine for a 5 night stay.

Please be aware of the fact that the locations and designated wine list are subject to change. And wines are also subject to availability.

NOTE: Two wine credits will be redeemed for Signature Dining experiences or private in-room dining.

Florida law permits the sale of alcohol products to persons 21 years of age or older only. Disney participates in Florida’s Responsible Vendor program and servers will verify age by requesting appropriate identification. Sale of this Plan is conditioned on your representation that you are 21 or older and any purported sale to a person under age 21 is deemed void and payment will be refunded.

Thanks, looking back now, I guess $40 for ONE bottle of wine for the room per night is pretty steep, probably why we never did it. I can bring my own a whole lot cheaper. And now they have those wonderful bubble wrap bottle covers so they make the trip safely!

I see nothing wrong with this if it's an add-on. The Dibb might just have found out about this due to an early leak to British travel. I guess that time will tell.

Handy that MK serves alcohol too now...
