OK, I know the WDW website is very clear about needing to order this well ahead of your visit to WDW, because it takes a while for the card to arrive in the mail. BUT...it seems to me I've read on the DISboards that you can request an email confirmation that will be received within a few days of payment and can be exchanged for the DDE card once you get to WDW.

Am I delusional or is this true?? Thanks for any info you may have! :earsgirl:

AFAIK, they no longer send the email confirmations, but you can make arrangements to pick up a temporary card at EPCOT guest services. Ask about it when you place your order for the DDE card.

I ordered mine about 5 days before I went to WDW. They told me to pickup at Epcot Guest relations. Very easy, it was there waiting for me. Got my permanent card a couple of weeks later. Only took about 3 weeks to get the card in the mail.

We did the same thing - very easy!

that DDE is only open M-F until about 5 or so. If you are arriving at WDW any time after that and want to order it, you will not be able to call them until Monday and will miss out on your weekend dining discounts. So order it before you leave and arrange for it to be waiting at EPCOT for pick up when you arrive.

Thanks for all the quick responses! I told DH about your responses and we are now totally psyched about purchasing the DDE card! We don't do a lot of sit-down meals (generally one per weekend, and we go about 6-8 weekends per year), but we go often enough (and eat at the Value food courts often enough) that we think we will save some money with the DDE. :cheer2:

We did get an email confirmation, but it didn't have a number. It was simply stating that our card was being processed. If you can, I would go ahead and order it early. I ordered ours in early august, and the exp isn't until the end of September - so they do take lag time into consideration. It just felt much better to be holding a real card than a piece of paper that I had to worry about getting soggy in the rain, etc.
