for the most part DH and I had a wonderful dining experience on our stay last week in Disney. We stayed at the Dolphin this time due to a DH conference, what a beautiful hotel! but lacks the real Disney feel, our first night was diner at Palio's in the Swan, very good food, I had the lobster w/cheese tortelinni & DH had a veal dish, but we settled into & toasted to our week long vacation, child free, over a bottle of chianti!! Local schools had a prom at the dolphin that evening so a few of them also enjoyed dinner at Palio's, they looked beautiful in the Cinderella gowns!

We made ADR's for Le Cellier and Rose & Crown that week, the wait was a little longer on Friday the 5th @ the Rose & Crown but noticed while inside the tables were not being cleared off as fast as they could have, many people were sitting outside waiting and I counted about 4-5 tables that needed to be cleaned off and were not for quite a while, so not sure why that happened. At the R & C I started with a salad & had the chicken pasties for my entree which was not bad, could have a bit more chicken filling in it but was very tasty, DH started with the potato & leek soup which was delicious! & had the fish & chips. Our waiter David was awesome. Tues May 2nd I enjoyed the mushroom filet w/risotto and DH enjoyed the bbq filet & mashed at Le Cellier, Erin was out waitress & was hoping to get an extension to stay in Disney since she enjoyed Orlando & Disney so much, she was very pleasant!

One thing we did not enjoy on our first morning was at the Picabo buffeteria in the Dolphin, a breakfast of scrambled eggs, choice of meat, potato wedges & dry cold toast was $8.95!! not worth it at all, it was all cold by the time we got to our table & we had to tell the woman 3 times we wanted wheat toast! never went back there again! During the week I would take a stroll over to the Boardwalk Bakery for coffee & a danish or egg sandwhich, much more reasonable & delicious and a beautiful view!

During the end of the week we enjoyed somewhat of a beer, wine & margarita (for Cinco de Mayo) crawl around Epcot while enjoying the beautiful Garden & Flower show! One night took a drive over to AKL DH enjoys a cold Tusker beer, discovered on one of our Food & wine fest trips, luckily they just got more in that week, heard they were out for a while, he would have been very disappointed if he could not get to enjoy one of those since you cant get a tusker anywhere else in the US that we know of ! Something new to enjoy,we strolled around the pool and discovered they had cool night vision googles so we got to watch the mother & baby giraffe having a late night snack!

The only other disappointing experience we had was trying to get a strawberry rice cream in Norway, the help was aweful, very, very slow & unfortunately the person behind the counter seemed to be in another world or something? we waited a long time & was ready to leave but there was one strawberry rice cream left & it had our name on it!! the check out girl did not even say hello or thank you? not sure what was going on there?

Other than that enjoyed an evening Dole whip watching Wishes and a wonderful breakfast at the Kona Cafe, pineapple macadamia pancakes!! shared an orange chicken & egg rolls for lunch in China and nachos & a plato combinacion in Mexico... it was a great week. Cant wait to do it all again someday soon.

Thanks for the detailed report! It sounds like you a great trip!

Sounds like you had a great trip! I love the rice creams in Norway too and am looking forward to having some in Sept.

Not a great start for the Picabo--.
Glad you had a good time. I ALWAYS order Tusker whenever we're at the AK lodge. Fine beer!!

I was shaking my head reading about your attempt to purchase a rice cream in Norway. We chose to use our last CS credits on a "take-out" lunch at Kringla for our trip home. It was the day after Thanksgiving and quite busy at Epcot BUT the bakeri was just very, very disorganized.

The waffle machine was left unattended and the order was ruined. The customer was furious since they waited sooooooooooooo long and then the waffles were shriveled and burned.

We did get our lunch (which by the way was delicious!) but I was sure we were going to be late for our pick-up at the WL.

Thanks for posting!

Let's hope they get organized in Norway. We love their food! :goodvibes

I love a cold Tusker while watching the acrobats at the Dawa bar. It is my favorite breaktime treat at any of the parks. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reviews. Pikabus was just opening when we were there but we didnt try it. That is pretty expensive for a breakfast. We too had about the same experience at the Norway Bakery in April. Lines out the door. 3 cast members hanging around the coffee machine talking to each other and not waiting on customers. I just think that generally the cms are just very laid back. We have been to Norway and also people there are very laid back, casual and never in a hurry, try telling that to us on the go ny'ers. I hope to try Palios one day too.

Thanks for the reviews and the heads up on the Tusker Beer in AK, we will look for it!
