I just got this email:

Greetings,
On the occasion of the 13th annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, we are pleased to announce that we will be launching a new name for the Disney Dining Experience.
Our Festival, which will take place from September 26 – November 9, 2008 will celebrate Cities in Wonderland, and following that theme, your dining club will be named Tables in Wonderland as of September 15, 2008.
This new name will not alter any of your current benefits. We have simply decided to do this to help distinguish your membership from any other dining privileges at Walt Disney World Resort that bares a similar name to the Disney Dining Experience.
You may continue to use your current card until expiration and your renewal card will reflect the new name, Tables in Wonderland.
In addition, we look forward to seeing you during the Festival. The team has planned an exciting line-up of events for the entire 45 days. We are particularly excited about hosting the Bocuse d’Or Culinary Competition on September 26th and September 27th from 11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on each day.
Chefs Paul Bocuse, Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller invite you to watch some of the countries top professional chefs compete live to earn the privilege to represent the United States at the renowned Bocuse d’Or International Cuisine Competition in Lyon, France 2009.
Plan to attend this unique event with Al Roker and Dana Cowin, Editor in Chief, Food & Wine Magazine as host emcees. Several celebrity chefs will be judging the Event and will be available for book signings throughout both days. Viewing the Competition is included in park admission.
Also, the Gala Dinner on Saturday, September 27th will be a rare treat and a lot of fun. More information on this event, including the menu will be sent on a separate e-mail . . . an event not to be missed!
We wish you a delicious journey as you explore Cities in Wonderland during the Festival, and as a member of Tables in Wonderland all year around.

I guess they have to distinguish it from the Disney Dining Plan but wow, what an awful name. And I feel like they should know it's "bears a similar name" and not "bares a similar name"

Not only that, but they sent me three of the same email.

Sort of wish they'd renamed the dining plan "Enough Food Per Day To Feed Pittsburgh" instead.

Still trying to sell people on that $430 per person dinner I see.

Tables in Wonderland?

Where's the emoticon that shoves a finger down its throat and then spews all over the place? :lmao:

Even this foreigner noticed that glaring error and mentioned it elsewhere ;)

Agree - it is a silly name, but I do wonder if it is intentionally vague to discourage sales, perhaps in an effort to eventually phase out the program, or to at least reduce discount holders?

Oh, and I received zero emails.

It will always be the DDE to me.

The real Table of Wonder(land) is: why does holiday pricing last practically all year long and totally negate the DDE discount????? Ask the White Rabbit I guess.

I didn't even receive the email. When I was reading the op's original post I thought maybe they were going to let us use the DDE card for the Food and Wine Festival but I guess just wishful thinking.

Technically, it shouldn't have the "s" at the end of bears - if they happened to spell it properly to begin with.

Disney needs someone with writing skills to - well, do their writing.

The name Tables in Wonderland is awful. It means nothing. "Disneys Dining Experience" is quite appropriate. Of course, they could name it something like "Good Luck Finding a Table".

Funny, in reading this thread I am first finding out that WDW is changing the name. I did just check the Disney website and they haven't even changed the title there or suggest it will change in a few days. Maybe they won't change anything until the name actually does change.

Maybe Disney is trying to warn us about the future of Disney Dining ...

Tables in Wonderland must mean that we're all going to be wondering where the inventive menus and fabulous food disappeared to.

I hate the name too. I can see wanting to rename it so that it stands apart from DDP names, but this one is lousy. Tables in Wonderland

And, yes, who came up with that name?:crazy2:

Please, not Tables in Wonderland, what an awful name.

Something more upscale like "Tastefully Yours" or "Tasting the World" or even "Magical Menus"

Great suggestions! "Magical Menus" would get my vote. :thumbsup2

I think Disney's got a few screws loose in their Marketing Dept. That's the best name they thought would work? That's pretty lame.

Keep the DDE the same and make the "other" plan change its name to the Magical Meal Plan or whatever.

Tables in Wonderland ???

Gag. Double gag.

My DDE expired a couple weeks ago and I've thought of renewing for our upcoming trip, forget it. I don't want a Tables in Wonderland card. We'll wait until next year when they change the name to something we can actually say out loud without shame.

Tables in Wonderland... COME ON!!! :confused3

I agree that Tables in Wonderland is odd.

Though I am going to insist now when making my reservations that Tables in Wonderland not only gives me a discount - it also guarantees me a table wherever and whenever I want one. :lmao:

Tables are implied - right there in the card name ;)
