Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

Hi Michelle!

I can't believe it took me this long to get to your TR. It is embarrassing...
But I am having a great time catching up and made it all the way to page 30 already.

I find it particularly exciting to read a TR from someone that was at WDW at the exact same time as we were.

That's ok, Q---I'm glad you made it over. I seem to be dragging my heels just a little about finishing up this TR. At the rate I'm going, you'll probably catch up and be waiting for me to finish !

-Ok, so here are my notes so far:

I love the pics of the room at the Beach Club. What a beautiful resort. It is on the top of our list of places we want to stay one day. I specially like the comforters. They look so cozy.
Loved it---beautiful resort, great location! :thumbsup2

-- That is amazing you got to sit at the same table of that family from Kentucky at Epcot. What a nice coincidence! It makes you wonder how many people we cross everyday that we don't even know we have a connection with!

:goodvibes

-- The Dis meet pictures look great. Your family is beautiful and your daughters look really sweet holding the little girls.
The DIS meet was so much fun! It was so great to meet some of the folks you talk to every day on line, in person!

-For the Animal Kingdom day, I am happy you guys were good sports about the woman holding on to your husband, I felt bad for her though....

:rotfl: How else could we be? To tell the truth, I found it quite amusing!

-- Me too I love the message of Nemo. It was only after I had my daughter that I was able to develop a real empathy for the character of Marlin.
:goodvibes......And as they get older, you understand it even more!

-
-- Can I just say the pictures of your two girls walking towards the castle nine years apart are simply priceless!!!! What a nice souvenir to have. ;)

You may---Thank you!:goodvibes

--
-- And way to go to for making until 2 am at Magic Kingdom. That is what I call stamina! :thumbsup2

Stamina or insanity! :lmao:

Friday, May 28---Part 2

When I left you, we were experiencing a flashback to our March trip. As we headed out of Pizzafari, we decided to walk over to It’s Tough to be a Bug. As we started down the path to the theater, it began to rain---Just a little sprinkling at first, and then without warning, the drops became bigger and faster. We sped up to a jog and tried to get to cover. (During our March trip, my sister, our kids, and I had gotten caught in a downpour at this exact spot. Unfortunately that day, the line was stopped outside the theater, so we had to stand outside in the rain, as the line slowly inched inside.) Luckily, this day, there was no one stopped outside the entrance, so we were able to get out of the rain quickly.

After the show---which I might say is one of my favorite things at AK---I love all the special effects, plus, my husband laughs hysterically through this show, it just cracks me up! :rotfl:----We left to find the rain had stopped. We took our time walking around the Tree of Life.

We all decided that we were ready to head back to the resort for a little rest, but on our way out, we got distracted again, by the spoonbills!!. Now if you’ll remember from earlier in my trip report, I told you about that Sunday at AK, when we saw the spoonbills engaged in ……shall I say…..compromising positions! ;) It must have been mating season!

WELL, as we were walking toward the exit, we noticed this one spoonbill chasing another one. After running the other spoonbill away, he returned back toward this little tree, where another spoonbill was waiting. He came back, and they stood together, but if any other spoonbill came around, he would start making this loud noise and chase it away. :confused3 WHY? , you may ask. Perhaps to protect their unborn baby spoonbills-to-be! (Told you they were being a little fresh six days earlier!) :thumbsup2

That first Sunday when we’d been at AK, we noticed that these spoonbills were walking around picking up sticks. We had laughed because they were very picky in which sticks they chose. They would try to get one in their mouth, and if something about it wasn’t right, they’d drop it and move to get another one. When they had one they liked, they would bring it over to this little area by a tree, near the fence, and drop it. In light of the mating that day, we had decided that they must be building a nest. We found it amazing how many sticks they had gathered since Sunday.

After being amazed by the spoonbills, we caught a bus fairly quickly and were on our way back to Beach Club.

UP NEXT: OUR LAST EVENING AT DISNEY DOESN’T GO AS PLANNED!

Love your update, Michelle. Your pictures of the Tree of Life are amazing (I really need to spend more time exploring the Tree next visit). I remembered the rain story from when you went with your sister and her kids.

What a nest by the Spoonbills in such a short time.

awww. Spoonbill babies!

I really want to do ITTBAB on the next trip. With little ones I try to alternate 3-D movies because they have a hard time with the glasses. I think this and Philharmagic will make the cut this time. Captain EO or Honey I shrunk the Audience and Muppet Vision will have to be missed this time.

Well at least you got to wait out the rain inside this time! I love ITTBAB too, it still makes me laugh and scream even though I know what's coming

That's quite a nest those Spoonbill's were putting together!

Great pictures of the Tree of Life! I could wander those trails for hours trying to find different animal carvings that I didn't see the trip before. How cool is is that you got to see the spoonbills' nest being made.

I love how you captured the details of the Tree of Life! Your pictures are beautiful! :goodvibes

It's pretty neat you got to witness a whole story unfolding with the spoonbills!

Love ITTBAB! The effects are great! Lol at the pickiness of the spoonbills-- love that certain sticks weren't worthy of their nest!

.

I know, Kathy---Sometimes I feel as if I never slow down and see some of the cool stuff at Disny!

The rain was not quite as bad as it was during that March day!

I understand about those 3D movies. My girls were always scared, so they would just take off the glasses and watch it fuzzy style! That seemed to lessen the fright factor for them, because nothing seemed to be "coming out to get them!"

I love ITTBAB too, it still makes me laugh and scream even though I know what's coming

ITTBAB :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Love it always. But, I'm like you---I have to admit that I still jump when those cockroaches exit the building! :rotfl:

BTW---Do I see a cruise ticker in your sig?????

Thanks, Lisa! :)

We thought it was cool to see the nest that had been started on the previous day we'd been at AK. Then, it all made sense! :upsidedow

Thanks, Courtney! :)

I thought it was a pretty neat story, too! After seeing the nest, all the little details added up!

The effects are great! Lol at the pickiness of the spoonbills-- love that certain sticks weren't worthy of their nest!

Isn't that funny? I found that quite amusing.

Awww, that is so cute about the spoonbills building their nest and protecting their eggs!!!

It's great, isn't it? People could learn a lot from the animal world, couldn't they? :thumbsup2

Great Tree of Life pics. Liked the Spoonbill pics as well.

Thanks, Mary! :)

How cute those spoonbills are! That's neat that you guys got to witness so much of their activity. :goodvibes

Field guide! --cute! But just try writing a TR without one...:scared1:

I didn't see your post about the choir until today - bummer! I'm sorry to hear they didn't win...but they did come close and that is a GREAT accomplishment!!!!

Seeing the spoonbills is amazing! How neat that you could compare the differences over the days!!!

I am thinking I might try It's Tough to Be a Bug with Henry in March - he loves that movie and loves bugs. I don't think he'd freak out about it at all...at least I hope not.

Aww, I missed the voting! To bad they didn't win!

I must admit, I saw It's Tough to be a Bug last week for the first time since 05 and it wasn't as bad as I remember! My DH had the same reaction yours does! It was hysterical! The little girl in front of us was freaking out though!

I remember you mention the spoonbills in a less then G rated position! It's so sweet that they there were soon to be baby spoonbills there as a result though! :lovestruc

Ok--those spoonbills are adorable!! It's neat what you get to see when you slow down and take in your surroundings!! :goodvibes

I'm not sure if we'll ever make it to ITTBAB! My girls are TERRIFIED of bugs and I cannot imagine that they'd do well in a 3-D movie!! YIKES!!! :scared1:

EXACTLY! :thumbsup2

It really was amazing to see all the changes that had been made in just a few short days!

I'll bet Henry will just grin from ear to ear---He'll be the cutest litle thing! :)

Oh, wow, I don't think we could ever wait that long to see ITTBAB---We all love it! :)

Yes, it was nice to know there were little baby spoonbills on the way. Even nicer was the fact that the mama and daddy spoonbill were both making preparations to take care of their little ones! :goodvibes

Oh, Becky, before you know it, you will be making it to ITTBAB! Your girls are growing up! In fact, you'll be making it very soon.... You are almost to the one week countdown! :)

You do indeed! :sail: 4 nights on the Dream departing on June 3rd, I'm ridiculously excited!

How exciting! I'm ridiculously excited for you! :) I can't wait to read that trip report!

First let me say that I am so sorry that I have taken so long to finish this trip report! I can't even offer up a good reason . I think I must have some sort of post Disney depression. We had four trips from May 2009 to May 2010, and now there's no trip in the planning. I'm happy for all you guys planning and going on trips, but I'm just a little sad that I don't have a trip in the works! :guilty:

So, without any further wait, let me get this trip report finished up!

*****************************

After leaving Animal Kingdom around 2:30 that afternoon, we returned back to Beach Club. The kids all wanted to rest a while in the room. Kevin and I decided that since it was our last day, we might walk over to Epcot and try to catch a performance of the Voices of Liberty one more time. We walked over through the “private entrance”, ;) and grabbed a times guide. We discovered that the next performance was at 3:30. We walked so fast around the world, trying to get over to America in time. Kevin didn’t even stop to stare at the belly dancer in Morocco!

We made it with five minutes to spare, so we rushed in. There were still seats around the circle, but we were stopped by a sweet little man who was working there. He noticed our anniversary buttons, and wanted us to know that we had a special phone call. After pulling us to the phone, where Mickey wished us a happy anniversary, he gave us a little certificate for celebrating 20 years of marriage! :lovestruc

Becky (ladybugmom) and her family were also coming in, and her parents got caught by the same little man, too!

We got a seat, without a moment to spare, and the show started. As always, this is Kevin’s favorite thing at Epcot. :goodvibes

After watching the show, we wandered through back toward International Gateway. I decided that I must try a napoleon in France. I had seen a picture on Courtney’s report, and I had to have one! We finally found the little bakery tucked in the back of France---and it seems everyone else had found it as well! :crowded: The line was out the door, but I was determined to get the napoleon, so we joined in. I ordered it to go, and we got out of the little bakery. I decided that I HAD to try a bite right then……………..OH….that is the most wonderful thing---a true spectacular use of a snack credit! :cloud9:

I truly could have devoured the entire thing right then, but I shared some with Kevin, and then decided to save some so the kids could try a bite. We walked back to Beach Club, and found the kids right where we had left them----lying on the beds, playing DS or watching TV. They all agreed that the napoleon was scrumptious.

We got ready for dinner and decided to drive over to the Poly for dinner at Kona.

As always, pulling into the parking lot of the Poly makes me happy---and then walking in is wonderful---the waterfalls, the plants, the tall lobby, the cool tile……THE SMELL!!! What is it about the smell of the Poly??? *SIGH* Even staying at Beach Club, which is definitely a nice resort, I have to admit, that I was just a little sad as I walked in the Poly, and wished we had stayed there again. (Maybe the next trip? ;) )

We were seated fairly quickly for our reservation at Kona Café. I can’t remember our server’s name, but she was a great one! She told us about the drinks included in the DDP, and since I knew that I wanted water to drink with my meal, and it’s not a charge, I decided to take a non-alcoholic drink for my DDP included drink. I ordered a pina colada.

IMG_1663.jpg

The girls wanted to know if they could do the same, so they both ordered strawberry daiquiris. They were so excited!
