Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

A friend and co-teacher lost her husband yesterday. It was a complete shock to everyone. He had been in an accident a week ago, but none of his injuries appeared to be life-threatening. Everyone was expecting him to have some rehab and fully recover. No one was expecting that news yesterday.

My friend's mother is in the late stages of COPD, so she had taken this past semester off from teaching to stay home and help with her mom's care. She's had so much to bear already.

They have a 9 year old son. Please pray for my friend, her son, and their entire family.

I am so very sorry to hear about your friend's husband. I will be sure to add her to my list of prayers. May peace be with her and her family.

So sad to hear that. Did they find out what happened to him? I'll send prayers up for the family. I can't imagine being a 9-year-old and losing my dad.

I'm all caught up now! Sorry I haven't been around much! Not only have we been busy renovating but our laptop decided to give us some problems. Got a new laptop now so I'm back.

I about died when I read about your DH and the lady on EE! Too funny! I hope she gave her husband a good talking to.

I loved then and now picture of the girls walkingdown Main Street. I need to do that with my two.

I am now back from camp---Long week, and very tiring---and YES, it was VERY hot. We stayed in Tutwiler and walked to the Football indoor facility every morning, then back to Tut. for lunch, then back to FB facility for afternoon session, then back to Tut. for dinner, then back to the indoor facility for evening session, and finally back to Tut. for bed.

*YAWN* I get tired just thinking about it! ;) But my girls did great---worked hard and did a great job! :thumbsup2

Sounds like it was a good trip. I figured you guys would be at Tutwiler. A funny thing about that hall is that there is no 13th floor. Well actually there is, but they number it 14. Very common thing I guess in buildings. But I had a friend RA one year that had some summer campers convinced that there was once a 13th floor and it got removed. So silly. Those were the days. I've been on vacation, so now to catch up on the rest of the posts here.

Hi! Just read your latest update! How fun that you got to see someone from back home! I loved your Spectro pics, whenever I see Spectro we are always so far back that we can't get any good pictures! :confused3

I love when MK is open really late, I always try to stay until the park closes too! Can't believe it took til almost 3am to get back to BC! :rotfl:

Thanks for your kind words and the prayers for my friend and her family. She is a very strong lady, and even though I know she'll make it through, I also know that she will have many hard days in the weeks and months to come. I know she takes comfort in the fact that her husband was a Christian.

The funeral service yesterday was one of the most touching ones I've ever attended. At one point my friend's son went up to the podium and read the scripture Isaiah 40:31. "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength: They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not grow weary, They shall walk and not faint." He prefaced his reading by saying that this was his dad's favorite verse. I don't think there could have been one mother in that room that didn't cry then. It was very touching.

After staying at Magic Kingdom the night before until almost 2 a.m., Monday was a scheduled sleep-in day. Around noon, we woke up and decided to play at Storm-along-Bay. The kids and I left Kevin in the room to work. He had a conference call to take.

This pool is as great as everyone says! :thumbsup2 We’d stayed at Yacht Club in December, but it was a little too cool for us, so we had not tried out the pool. The slide here had been closed at the beginning of May for a refurb, but I was thrilled to see that it was open even on the day we had arrived.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take my camera out to the pool. Here are some pictures I found on the resort board. They were posted by Turtle 31. Hope Turtle doesn’t mind me using some pics.

Reid loved this water slide. He probably went down it 20-30 times just that afternoon. I went down once, and I do have to admit, that it was pretty fun! :) The girls limited theirselves to sunning. When Kevin made it down around 2, we all played in the pool, especially that little area where the current is strong, and pushes you around in a circle. That was fun, but exhausting!

Around 4, I went in to start cleaning up for dinner. Kevin and the kids came in a little later. Kevin and I had an ADR at Yachtsman Steakhouse –just for the two of us-an anniversary dinner with no kids.

We left the kids in the room with strict orders not to leave the room. Our ADR was for 5:10, so we left our room at 5, and made the short walk over to the Yacht Club.

After checking in, we waited just a few minutes, and then we were seated. Our menus were already on the table when we were seated. Check it out-

I thought that was a pretty neat touch! Kevin decided on the filet, and I chose the strip.

When our food arrived, it looked delicious-sorry though, no pictures! The further I cut into my steak, however, the worse it got. I had ordered my steak medium-warm, pink, center. I wasn’t even halfway into the steak and it was more like med-rare. I just can’t do it. :sad2: YUCK! I didn’t want to send food back at a place like this, so I just ate off the ends of the steak.

Not even taking into consideration the fact that the steak was not cooked as well as I liked, I’d have to say that Kevin and I were both slightly disappointed with this meal. I had read so many positive reports on how great the food was, but I didn’t even think that the steak had a lot of flavor. (We would both eat steak for our last meal later in the week, and both agree that that meal beat the Yachtsman hands down!---But I’ll tell you more on that later.) We paid OOP for this meal, and used our TIW discount.

After returning to the room, we changed clothes quickly, and then the kids and us headed out to the boat dock to go to DHS for evening magic hours (7-10 pm). We arrived at 7:25, and immediately walked down Sunset Blvd. to check out wait times for our favorites. This is what we saw-

YEP! 10 minutes. That was a no brainer for us- We got in the stand-by line and made our way through.

Now we had “talked” Reid into riding ToT with us. He doesn’t care for this ride so he and Elizabeth usually sit out together. But Rachel begged and pleaded with him to ride with her, so he had agreed. He was not that excited-

Afterwards, we grabbed some quick service from Rosies for the kids. Then we stopped for our only photopass pic of the night.

RnRC still had a really long stand by line, so we walked back toward the tip board to check out some times. We decided to go for the Great Movie Ride---all the kids love this one.

After riding, we stopped at the Sorcerer’s Hat to do some pin shopping. This is when Reid bought his pin lanyard and his pins for Expedition Everest and ToT.

It was a little after nine, and we caught these guys performing in front of the hat.

Everyone was tired, so we left the park around 9:30 to ride the boat back to Beach Club. Kevin grabbed his laptop, and went to the lobby to do some work emails. The kids and I were all in the bed by 10:45- I hardly heard Kevin come in at midnight.

UP NEXT---A MAGIC KINGDOM DAY FROM OPENING TO CLOSING

Sorry to hear about your disappointed anniversary dinner! :sad2: We had considered eating there on our upcoming trip since it will be mostly adults going now. I would love to stay at YC or BC sometime just for the pool! We will be staying at BWV w/boardwalk view this winter so at least we can enjoy the view of those resorts

Ooooh, just the thought of the son reading that scripture makes me choke up. It sounds like it was a beautiful service.

Sorry to hear you anniversary dinner wasn't very good! I remember in the past hearing so many great reviews of Yachtsman, but lately I've heard a few not so great ones. :sad2: And at those prices it should be GOOD!

Looks like a very fun evening at DHS. I never realized the sound board was under the hood of the pick-up for Mulch, Sweat and Shears! That's pretty cool!

Oh I love Stormalong Bay. So glad it was open your entire trip. I never even thought to do the slide. Now I wish I had! Sorry to hear about the anniversary dinner quality. I'm curious as to where you have the better meal later in the week.

That's awesome the short line at ToT! Glad y'all could enjoy DHS that night for EMH!

I hope you had a great time at cheer camp. My little niece is loving cheering. She is so cute--so driven already with it. :goodvibes

Great pictures from Spectro.

How sad for your friend, I will add her to my prayer list. I started tearing up after reading about the funeral and I was not even there.

I am looking forward to seeing SAB when we eat at BC. Everyone says it is spectacular! I'm sorry your anniversary dinner was not good. :sad2: Looks like the evening ended well with having time in DHS. :goodvibes
