I have been waiting for a code, but when I looked at my profile a few months back, I noticed I selected that I did not want to receive promotional news.
I changed it, but also started another profile and reorder the dvd.
I have now received 3 Disney Destination emails - the latest one today, but nothing with a PIN Code.
Just wondering if that is how it starts, or will the discount email just bypass me all together. We have a trip planned August 16-24th.

It's difficult to say. Nobody knows how they pick who to send the e-mails to. I'm beginning to think that they have it on cycles... For instance, if you sign up even number days then you get sent e-mails along with all even number days signer uppers (THIS IS TOTALLY SPECULATION...I have no idea how they do it...) Also, they could have a computer that randomly selects a certain number of accounts every time and send a pin to those people.

I made a new Disney account last fall when I first found out about the pins (I didn't want my Disney pin to get mixed up in the e-mail inbox I've had for 10 years). I got the pin e-mail in January, but then I missed one since then. Now I got the most recent one.

I think that if somebody found out exactly how they chose who got the e-mails, they would probably change the system.

I wish I could use the pin I got, but I can't. However, I plan on making some serious tracks around the Disney sites in hopes that I continue getting the e-mails.

If you're getting the Disney Destinations e-mails, then at least you know that they have your e-mail address, and you have as good of chance as anybody to get a pin.

I forgot to add that you might still get one, or they might release a similar offer to the general public. I don't know if they just send out one mass e-mail, or if they're periodic, though I've noticed on these boards that people tend to get them all around the same time. It's most likely that they have a single sending, but people don't necessarily get them at the same time, because people check their e-mails at different times.

I got a Disney Destination e-mail with a pin code for free dining (with very limited parameters). You got that too, right?

The emails I received were not PIN codes, one stated I started an iteinerary, one was one for movie etc..
I guess a better question would be is if you get all of the Disney Destination emails, do you eventually get the one with the PIN code, or do some people just get the promotional emails and not the one with the PIN code?

Here's what happened to me: I'm making up actual dates, but the timeframe is correct.
Monday: Receive DVC timeshare video in the mail. Eagerly rip it open hoping for an elusive code-nada! But the letter thanks me for showing my intererst in DVC while at ABC Mall (I've never heard of ABC Mall, much less visited it)

Wednesday-Receive a Disney Destination e-mail at my "regular" e-mail address, which I've been using for about 8 years now. It contains a pin code for $94 for values and $154 for mods (doesn't seem like much of a code)

About 2 weeks later: I receive an application for Disney Visa.

PS: I hardly ever receive credit card apps in the mail.

I think you're mixing up the promotional emails and the pin emails. Some promotional emails mention discount codes for the public, like the one for free dining. However, getting promotional emails doesn't mean you'll eventually get a pin code email.

There is no way to guarantee that you'll get a pin code. Some people think they've gotten one because they're on email lists, others think it's because they've requested the vacation planning dvd, etc. I get the Disney Destinations emails -- have for several years -- and also get other email updates. I have visited many times, requested the planning dvd, completed surveys, etc., and I have never gotten a pin code. I'm not upset about it particularly, I'm just pointing out that it's not something you can sign up for or count on at all (and certainly not within a certain date range).

I think it is fair to say that very, very few people get pin codes. However, a large number of those who get them post about them, so it seems like a more common occurrence. The same is true of room upgrades -- the number of posts makes it seem commonplace, but it really isn't.

But it sounds like CJMZ's promotional email did not even contain a discount code, whereas mine and other's did. I think she's curious about that as well.

I've gotten a couple of promotional Disney Destinations e-mails along with a couple pin codes.

I got a pin code e-mail a few weeks after I ordered a free vacation planning DVD, and another a few weeks after I ordered free customized maps. I have no idea if they are connected.

Also... three days before the pin code e-mail came I received a promotional e-mail about NASA's 'Toys in Space'
For the other pin code I'm not sure about which, if any, promotional e-mails came around the same time. Unfortunately, I deleted the e-mails for some reason.

I received the NASA Toy Story email on the 2nd, then the next one I got was the June Hello email yesterday. Sounds like the other poster received a PIN Code email between the two. I guess that bypassed me.

I realize that there are two types of emails, but wanted to see if others had received the PIN Code email once Disney Destinations started sending other promotion emails or do some people find that all they do receive is promotional emails.

I will try calling again, but not having much luck with that.
