I agree with you LoriDee.........I actually keep this reduced on the bottom of my screen and open and refresh it a couple of times an hour just to be sure I don't miss anything........I'M ADDICTED!!!

LOL....thats exactly what I do...leave it on my tool bar and pull it up every few hours to refresh and read a couple of pages!

I did it, I did it!!!! :cheer2: I finished my first t-shirt design. I created a shirt for my DS's 10th Birthday. I figured he could where it to school and to his birthday party.

I borrowed the idea from Julia & Nicks Mom by using characters from finding Nemo. And I borrowed the idea for the badge from DisneyFreq. Thank you so much.

I know that the information for posting pictures to this thread has been explained before. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. I'd like to pay it forward for all the help.

Excuse OT but, Beiji- I see you'll be at MVMCP on 12/20. We'll be there for our first ever. I'll be wearing your lime green Mickey on my sleeve. :cool1:

Thanks so much everyone.

Here goes nothing......... :confused3 I hope this works.

Thanks for the info. I think I may try this as my DD3 was afraid of the characters last year. She says she wants to get an autograph book this time like her big brother did, but I don't know, I think she still might be afraid. Maybe this will give her incentive to go up to them. Brilliant idea.

It definately breaks the ice - Julia isn't afraid of the characters (except the villians) but Genie was a little intimidating to her - but there was NO WAY she was going to leave without his autograph - it gave her the courage to talk to him!

I printed the scrapbook cards on a 6x6 piece of paper before I left - with the names and pictures

I carried them around with me in a plastic baggie with sharpies - I took them everywhere -once we got a signature it stayed in the room -

when I got home I then made the photo part with my digital pictures and printed them on the computer

Julia looks at it everyday

this last trip - I made the cards 4x6 and bought a Disney album that holds 4x6 photos - I put the card before the pictures of them signing them - this was the cheaper and easier route to go - but I LOVE the other one more - so for this trip we are going back to the 6x6 pages - I also bought a small clipboard for the pages - this helped the characters sign the pages

I used to sell them on ebay and have a program set up to merge the characters together with the names but the first time I did it - it took forever to find all the clipart - but so worth it!!! The characters also just loved the pages - they definatley increase character interaction!!

for the cards - I used them last year for the first time - Nick was one and Julia 3 - Nick may not have appreciated the cards - but he liked the presents!! :earboy2: and they will go in our scrapbook - notice I said will - I can do the computer stuff no problem - it is the scrapbooking I can't seem to sit down and do!

If you plan on selling them on eBay any time in the near future, let me know!!! Just email me your eBay user name so I can check out your auctions. I'd be very interested in buying one for dd since I know there is no way I could find the time to do all of that and I think it is such an amazing keepsake.

Excuse me if I GUSH but...

JULIA AND NICKS MOM.....THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I love, love, love (did I say love yet?) the autograph book idea. My daughter has been returning every trip with an original disney autograph book thats not only full, but ratty. I put stickers of the characters in them b/c she couldn't read (well, now she can) and she loved to look at the autographs but couldn't remember which belonged to who. I've seen some scrapbooks where the scrappers ripped out autographs and added them to pages. Although I've been looking for a way to combine the two, I couldn't bear to take something that belongs to my daughter and tear it up. I really want something she can keep for herself and this is the PERFECT solution. I was also wondering if getting the autographs would help my son get over his fear of characters. The kid is SCARILY brave...he'll jump off anything and he's going nuts over the fact that he's tall enough to ride the rockin roller coaster this trip. However he won't approach the characters! (as of last year at least). He claims he's ready to "give mickey a hug" and I'm hoping this book will help him follow thru. I plan to do one for both of them. Oh and you answered all my questions...I was wondering about the clip board part..cardstock is pretty stiff but not that stiff...and the baggies are also an excellent idea. "Patrick, Your genius is showing."

I would be willing to set up an auction for this - I sent you a PM

Hey, thanks! I love your t-shirt design!
Thanks! I'm trying to post a better picture, but &*^%$# RoadRunner has my account blocked from linking!?! I'm a new customer and they've blocked me for no reason?! Anyway...will post a better one soon :)

This is the shirt I designed for ds's birthday last year. I thought I did well until I start seeing the shirts here! I am getting some great ideas for dd's birthday trip next year. You are all so talented!!!

I've never posted an image before, so I hope this works...

bethbuchall

By the way, this shirt didn't get a lot of attention except from Peter Pan who met us at the end of the Family Magic Tour. He loved the shirt and was thrilled that he and Tink were on it. I think there are two reasons the shirt didn't attract a lot of attention: 1. it is a little too busy and the birthday message doesn't really catch your eye, 2. he had his hair done with blue gel and pixie dust that morning at the MK barbershop, and that really got everyone's attention.

ETA: I guess you have to click on the link to see it...not sure what I did wrong, but at least it's accessible.

Thanks, Julia & Nick's Mom!!! Have any idea what I did wrong? It's scary that I used to actually be a programmer (in my former life 14 years ago!), and now I can't do anything!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the autograph album, and I hope you don't mind if I make a version for dd's 13th b-day next year. We made our own albums for the last trip (except for the then 13 y.o. ds who was too cool for an autograph album...until we got there, that is! We bought one for him practically first thing).

This is the best thread ever!

when you post pictures you have to put the

photobucket actually gives it to you under the thumbnail

I just want to let everyone know -

I am sharing my ideas with you here b/c they make my family's trips SO magical - did you all see the pictures of Julia riding the tea cups with Belle? My eyes tear up when we watch the opening of the Magic Kingdom and when I see my kids having an awesome time - it is the BEST feeling in the world

I wish everyone could experience that!! and if I can help your family get that magic - I want to!

so please feel free to use any of my ideas - that is why I post them! tweek them whatever - I am flattered that you love my ideas!!

I posted a few posts ago that I would make pages for someone - I felt bad doiong this b/c this has never been my intent - while I am willing to and really don't charge much beyond my costs - I am really happy to just help you all do this!!

So, to make sure I understand how you did the autograph book.....you printed the pages with the 'Happy Birthday' and the date at the bottom along with a picture (clipart) of the character?? Then took along some without the clipart and added it after you got home??

How much would you charge?? ;) I know that doesn't sound like much to do but I know finding the clipart and figureing out which characters you might see......I think I would rather pay!!

yes - that is how I made them

Please PM J&N MOM if you have questions like the second paragraph regarding her autograph books. Thanks...

I made a DL shirt too (great minds think alike!) Edited: here it is with Disneyland all one word! Thanks for the tip!

Does anyone have a list of "common" characters you can find while in WDW? There must be a link, right...mabey I'll go check out Deb's site.

Triplefigs, love your design. Thought I'd mention, Disneyland is commonly written as a single word....at least on all the merchandise! It's funny how big the DL castle looks in pictures!!
