Oh yeah -- I have no problem sending something back at a restaurant too -- most of the time. The exception, was when we were at Outback's last month. DH and I both ordered prime rib -- rare. His was perfect! Mine was not only overcooked but it was more than 1/3 FAT! (closer to half)

Now, I know prime rib is a fatty cut, but that wa ridiculous! Service was so s-l-o-w and Ben looked like he wasn't feeling so well all of a sudden -- so I just decided it wasn't worth it.

A day or so later, I emailed them through their website. IN the end, I got a phone call apologizing and I got vouchers for a dinner for two in the mail.

Now, I don't complain to get "free stuff". But, if I purchase something, I have a certain level of expectation. KWIM? I don't have the same expectation of a McDonald's hamburger as I do an Outback burger ......

Anyway .... business offer refunds or replacements to KEEP your business - for future visits

Go figure, the squeeky wheel always gets the oil.

NIce pics!

And speaking of Tonga ...............

Does anyone know how to make Tonga Toast at home???

From what I understand, they deep fry it. I don't have a deep fryer.
Do you think it could be made like grilled cheese? Any thoughts????

Tonga Toast (Banana Stuffed French Toast)

from the Polynesian Resort

2 or 4 slices sourdough bread cut 1 inch thick
1 banana
1/3 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
oil for frying
whipped butter if desired
Maple syrup if desired

Depending on the size of the bread slices, cut a 1 inch pocket in one side of the bread slice.

Cut banana in half crosswise, then split each piece lengthwise. Remove peel and stuff 2 pieces in each pocket, again depending on size. Set aside.

Mix sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

Mix egg, milk and vanilla until well blended.

Heat about 4 inches of oil in a pan to 350 F.

Dip stuffed bread into egg mixture, allowing it to soak in for a few minutes. Fry in hot oil until lightly brown, turning to brown both sides. Drain on paper towels on cake rack. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar and serve at once. Top as desired.

OK ... do you think if this was NOT fried in oil it would tast almost the same? I am NOT big on the oil part. I mean .. I make french toast without deep frying it. :)

I don't know. I haven't eaten either of them. I just knew where to go to get the recipe.

Thanks, Elin. We were very busy, but a fun busy. Yours has now become a RELAXING time at WDW.

Tammi - can you please repost the link to your photos - I just upgraded my browser and it lost all my open windows :badpc:

I guess it can't hurt to try. I HAD to try Tonga Toast since I hear so many good things about it. It had a bit too much sugar for my taste, and I could have NEVER added the maple syrup on top of it ... but man was it tasty! I LOVE bananas.

I have had him since summer and he does NOT recommend Dumbo, from my interpretation of it.

My interpretation was that he recommended it for an old display - then decided against it for a new one - and then decided actually it worked aft all if you didn't mind turning your head. It would have been better if he hadn't mentioned it at all and we wouldn't have even considered it!

Although - I thought the rest of his advice was spot on.

Well let me know if you make it at home and how it compares to Disney's.

I think you are right. I'm sorry you listened to that part of his advice.

Just a quick FYI .... Amazon carries MORE of those Spode Disney pieces. search on Disney + Spode, but dont use quotes cuz they changed the order in some titles. Some pieces are half off.

If she does not like it who does she complain to?
