I'm sorry she makes things so difficult for you, and really sorry she's not more involved with your kids. Most men don't have a backbone when it comes to their mothers, no matter how awful the mothers are. :grouphug: to you.

SO that's what it is...you are right most men don't have a backbone when it comes to their mamas!!! Even when their mamas are royal pains in the backside.

For all of us who have MIL trouble....I wish for the new year, a giant zipper for those times when biting our tongues just doesn't work and the grace to remember that because of our troubles when we become MIL's we WILL NOT be the same way.

Great pic's everybody....guess I better figure out how to use the camera soon(and to download pic's  ).

All the kiddos are so cute...almost make me want to have another...and then I go home and get TEEN attitude :rotfl: .

Is this in your house? How do you have enough room? And what do you do with all of those cookies?

When we remodeled the kitchen, we added a nice long countertop, where we frequently dine. This countertop is one of the reasons I never want to sell our house! :teeth:

We still have quite a few cookies left, but we had four Christmas celebrations (Kevin and I both are children of divorce), and we always take 2-3 dozen with us to each event. Kevin also took some to work for the office party, etc. Kids and adults seem to love them. :goodvibes

Ahh - now I've seen them in real life I realise where we went wrong - didn't roll 'em thin enough... and forgot to buy stuff to decorate them with!!!!! They taste alright though :0) Maybe I'll try again at Easter...

Yeah, they're pretty bland without frosting and sugar! :teeth:

Practice makes perfect! You could make Valentine's Day hearts.

Amy :)

Hello all - back from a great day of anniversary stuff! We started with a family outing to see Narnia. We loved it - it was a bit long and I was worried that DS (7) wouldn't sit through the whole thing, but he loved it even more! With the previews it was 2 1/2 hours long. AND we got there early, so he sat in that seat for quite a long time with no complaints!!!

Then we dropped him at a friends house and went for dinner. It was nice to have a quiet dinner without coloring first! And there were linen napkins - what a nice change.

For my Christmas gift this year I got a three piece luggage set from the Disney Store and my upcoming birthday trip - so not all DH pick out bad presents!!! Since he's on vacation this week, we're going out now for another family outing... talk to you later!! Maybe I can go on a posting frenzy and pass 1,000!!

Denise - I think you're gone, but I hope today is/was even a little better than you anticipated. I agree (as with many others)..... apparantly there's a reason for that "mother in law" stereotype. Mine's not near as bad as some, thankfully, but I still can only take a day or two......

Now sisters-in-law..... dont get me started. I may win that one :rotfl:

I've got a SIL that would be in contention and we haven't spoken to her in over 13 years.

Kevin and Amy, I love all your pics but these are my favs.

I just love the way she is sleeping sideways in her crib. :teeth: My DD slept that way all the time when she was a baby. Alyssa is too cute!!!

First day back at work today and it was sooooo quiet I started writing my trip report!!! Only on day 1 as it took a while - so there's still another 20 to go :rolleyes1

Anyway here's the link to the thread... http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=986553

ETA: I'm writing this for the UK trip board - si beware it will be full of english-isms :rotfl:

I saw this GREAT tip for rolling cookie dough. Don't remember WHERE I saw it though, but I have not yet had a chance to try it.

Anyway, they used small dowels -- of the apropriate diameter -- and placed it on either side of the cookie dough. So as the rolling pin comes down, it will rest on the dowels and cannot make the dough any thinner than you want it.

I think it's a great idea. I tend to make dough too thick in trying to cut them out.

I guess I will have another chance come Valentines Day. I would REALLY love to cut out and decorate cookies for DS's class. I've never done the icing on cookies before. Amy did you ice yours or is it all sugar?

We actually have a DVR, but I referred to it as TIVO, because I generalize all the time (I also call all tissue Kleenex).

Honestly, I don't know the difference. Maybe Kate can chime in, because I think she actually has TIVO and if she describes some of her features, I might be able to recognize any differences.
See ... now I'm still just as confused. I do hope Kate chimes in. Can you do the "season pass" thing with a DVR? Or is that just a special of Tivo? Can you copy to a VCR if you want? A regualr DVR requires no subscription fee, right?

P.S. I hope Ben's hair grows back quickly! :goodvibes
Me too! DH is thrilled with it -- but I HATE it. You know what they say -- if you want something done right ..... Ugh I just can't be in 2 places at once and I had to grocery shop with my Mom for XMas morning.

Kevin & Amy your pictures are simply BEAUTIFUL!!!! I wish I looked that good in the morning with no make-up and glasses! ;)
