I'm also watching TAR. Go Linz family. Please let the Weaver's implode tonight and the Godliewski sisters are getting very irritating

I always miss all the milestones.

I was trying to make pecan brittle. Followed every direction. Scorched!!!! My house smells yucky!

Sorry you scorched your pecan brittle. Never had that happen.

My sister sent this to me and after Steffy and I got lost on our way to Atlanta, and also lost while driving downtown with my sister, We saw all four sides of the CNN building!!! this is by far the best description of:

ATLANTA GEORGIA
This is for anyone who lives in Atlanta, Georgia, has ever lived in Atlanta, has ever visited Atlanta, ever plans to visit Atlanta, knows anyone who already lives in Atlanta, or knows anyone who has ever heard of Atlanta.
Atlanta is composed mostly of one-way streets. The only way to get out of downtown Atlanta is to turn around and start over when you reach Greenville, South Carolina. :rotfl:

All directions start with, "Go down Peachtree" and include the phrase, "When you see the Waffle House." Except that in Cobb County, where all directions begin with, "Go to the Big Chicken."

Peachtree Street has no beginning and no end and is not to be confused
with:
Peachtree Circle, Peachtree Place, Peachtree Lane, Peachtree Road, Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree Run, Peachtree Terrace, Peachtree Avenue,
Peachtree Commons, Peachtree Battle, Peachtree Corners, New Peachtree,
Old Peachtree, West Peachtree, Peachtree-Dunwoody, Peachtree-Chamblee, Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Peachtree Memorial Drive :earseek:

Atlantans only know their way to work and their way home. If you ask anyone for directions, they will always send you down Peachtree.

Atlanta is the home of Coca-Cola. Coke's all they drink there, so don't ask for any other soft drink unless it's made by Coca-Cola. :rotfl2:

The gates at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport are about 32 miles away from the Main Concourse, so wear sneakers and pack a lunch.

The 8 a.m. rush hour is from 6:30 to 10:30 AM. The 5 p.m. rush hour is from
3:00 to 7:30 PM. Friday's rush hour starts Thursday afternoon and lasts
through 2 a.m. Saturday.

Only a native can pronounce Ponce De Leon Avenue, so do not attempt the
Spanish pronunciation. People will simply tilt their heads to the right and stare at you.
The Atlanta pronunciation is "pawntz duh LEE-awn."
And yes, they have a street named simply, "Boulevard."

The falling of one raindrop causes all drivers to immediately forget all traffic rules. If a single snowflake falls, the city is paralyzed for three days and it's on all the channels as a news flash every 15 minutes for a week. Overnight, all grocery stores will be sold out of milk, bread, bottled water, toilet paper, and beer. :rolleyes1
I-285, the loop that encircles Atlanta, which has a posted speed limit of 55 mph (but you have to maintain 80 mph just to keep from getting run over), is known to truckers as "The Watermelon 500."
Don't believe the directional markers on highways. I-285 is marked "East" and "West" but you may be going North or South. The locals identify the direction by referring to the "Inner Loop" and the "Outer Loop." If you travel on Hwy 92 North, you will actually be going southeast.
Never buy a ladder or mattress in Atlanta. Just go to one of the interstates and you will soon find one in the middle of the road.
The last thing you want to do is give another driver the finger, unless your car is armored, your trigger finger is itchy and your AK-47 has a full clip.
Possums sleep in the middle of the road with their feet in the air.
There are 5,000 types of snakes and 4,998 live in Georgia.
There are 10,000 types of spiders. All 10,000 live in Georgia, plus a couple no one has seen before. :confused3
If it grows, it sticks. If it crawls, it bites. If you notice a vine trying to wrap itself around your leg, you have about 20 seconds to escape, before you are completely captured and covered with Kudzu, another ill-advised "import," like the carp, starling, English sparrow, and other "exotic wonders."
It's not a shopping cart, it's a buggy. "Fixinto" is one word (I'm fixinto go to the store).
Sweet Tea is appropriate for all meals and you start drinking it when you're 2 years old.

"Jeet?" is actually a phrase meaning "Did you eat?"

If you understand these jokes, forward them to your friends from
Atlanta, Georgia and those who just wish they were. Lordy, I love Jawja.

Your Ddad is so lucky to be alive. That looks awful. So glad he was not hurt any worse than he is.

Here's something confusing for all of you on the birthday thread... I actually have two birthdays every year. Really, I do. My date of birth is January 24th (yea Amy) but I have a second birthday on February 21st. We refer to it as my "special birthday". You see I was adopted and February 21st is the day I was born into my family... so in our family, my special birthday is more important than the day I turn a year older!!!

ETA: If I have two birthdays - does that mean I'm really 84???

That is so special. Lucky you.

These are so true for the south anywhere I think. I am in Sweet Home Alabama and we sure have to have our sweet tea and I am fixinto go make me some. :rotfl2:

Wow Lisa - I can not imagine what you went through! :grouphug: So glad he is okay!!!!

Well, onestly .. he's alive ... but he's not "ok". He has a permanent disability due to the accident ... and the Army was wonderful enough to discharge him with 0% disability!!!! Than heavens you can apply through the VA. They rated him at 60%! How the heck can there be SUCH a discrepancy?!?!?!

ItsLisa has passed me in the standings and Miss Missy is coming on strong. Pretty soon I'll be on the bottom :confused3 . I must sleep too much.

Deb

I noticed ... but didn' twant to upset you with everything else going on. Yo'll kick me out when I leave on Saturday!

Thanks all! He really does appreciate it when people say "thank you". He was proud to go and proud to be a soldier .....

Unfortunately, he really did get .... ummmm ... <insert bad word here> .... by the Army and their medical system.

He left here in Feb 2003
Got shrapnel in Jly 2003
Big accident in Sep 2003

It should have been enough to discharge him BUT the Army was intent on trying to "fix him". They kept him in a state of "medical hold" until Jan 2005!!! The guys he went over with came home in May 2004! The really unfortunate part is they did very little for him medically the whle time. :(

He has neurological damage --- the vertigo that Deb was talking about. It never went away. He walks with a cane now, so he can get his balance whenever he begins to lose it. (BTW - tell your Dad to focus on a VERTICAL object -- a tree, light post, lamp etc)

Like I said previously .. it could have all been worse. The passenger was killed. I attended the funeral. I was numb and holding the girlfriend of the other soldier that was injured. All we could think of was how close it all was.

Sorry guys ... I can just go on and on about this ...

Lisa,

I can relate to the scre**ng from the military

It was not the same type of thing but back in the 70's we learned the hard way to make sure you got everything in triplicate and blood...for us it was just a thing that my DH was promised he would be with me for the birth of our first. Well that did not happen and I was all by my self having a C-section in Hawaii and he was in Guam and could have come home but they "decided" he was needed,,, YEAH they were in drydock, nothing to do for another month but he was needed. When his tour of six years was done we were so happy to be out of the Navy that all we could think of was getting home , In fact I was a Tupperware dealer and found out I was pregnant with our second and used a two ounce midget for a sample to verify and I remember the female doctor questioning my use for a sample carrier. i told her i did not care cause we were going home and glad to get out of the military, I know this is not the same but once screwed by the military,,,,you kinda get a little jumpy

Matthew

Peter
Phillip
Mickey

Jose, Lumier, Clopin, Hades, Ling, and Kuzco

BUZZ!!!

Mad Hatter
tarzan
pinocchio
Simba
Scar
charming

you know - mayeb Koda isn't sounding that bad!!! :rotfl:

I was thinking Koda was quite good - as it's not well recognized as a Disney name... I know we all love Disney but you don't want to go putting pinocchio as his middle name and habing him teased in the playground :goodvibes

Deb - hope your dad is home for Christmas

Tink2020 - he's a MAN - obvious is not enough to get the message through, you need to actually tell him (preferably not while he's watching sport) then tell him again, then two weeks before remind him. If you did that he might guess - otherwise I should think you're safe :rolleyes1

Something went wrong here, mine was scorched and I have a smelly kitchen to prove it.

Perhaps your microwave is either more powerful, or needs a service. My stove cooks way hot, so I have to reduce temperatures AND cooking times, and even so have trouble with Yorkshire Pudding or Toad in the Hole.

Phew - finally caught up before you lot hit the keys again :teeth:

okay - DH has a business trip to DC in July - we used to live in DC and I have not been back in 9 years!!! :earseek: but it is my favorite city so he has been promising me a trip - I am not sure if we would bring the kids or not - part of me thinks it would be fun to go with just him - but he will be in conferences during the day and want to catch up with his buddies - all of my girlfriends have moved away so I would not really have anyone to catch up with

so I would be up for a DDA meet - there are so many great places in DC we could go!!

As long as it isn't the beginning of July - I can go - last year it was the end of July so I should have no trouble

I just found out today I am going to be an aunt again with an anticipated due date of July 1!!! it is my brother's first and there is no way I would leave town and miss it!!
Congratulations!! Babies all over the place today. Did you live IN DC or in the metro area? A meet would be wonderful!!

ETA: Nevermind, I read further...

Hi everyone! We're having a great time! I saw Denise and 2 of the kids yesterday on their Family Magic Tour, but I didn't get to say hi because they were "flying" off. PoohAngel (Angie) came up to me last night after we were done with dinner and introduced herself. :goodvibes Got many, many comments on our MVMCP shirts last night. Haven't gotten many comments on the other ones though.

Just so you all know - my trip to DC might be in lieu of my trip to Atlanta - then again maybe not - I get bored in the summer!!

Also - Amy is mad at me for planning a meet right around her due date - sooooo - I told her I would invite you all for labor day (the real one - not hers!!) for a meet in Cincinnati - we have fireworks here in Cincinnati that are amazing!!!

Well, if we do that then I suppose I will have to make a side trip to Jamestown, OH to visit old friends from when we lived there before! Let's get planning!

Count me in for this one too! How far is Cincy from Rochester, NY??

Well, I am trying to remember, since we moved FROM Rochester TO Ohio back in 1983. I tell you what, Marti... I will pick up Tammi and we will drive to Rochester, pick you up and then we can drive the rest of the way to Ohio together! :moped:

OK -- not Diet Coke, but coffee all over the keyboard. I started coughing and DH came running.

I assumed Kate made this, am I wrong? She was still up designing when I got up this a.m.!! :earseek:
