We muted it and turned on Christmas music instead. I shouldn't be watching anyway![]()
Oh my Gosh. I am so glad your Dad is alive.my3princes said:I'm 8 pages behind, so I need to go back and read. I need a little pixie dust tonight. My Dad drives a dump truck and was hit by a freight train earlier today. The details are sketchy, it appears that the train only hit the last foot of the truck. It is a blind intersection. He has absolutely no recollection of the accident. He remembers eating lunch then he remembers being in the ambulance. We don't think he lost consciousness as someone helped him get out of the truck which was rolled over on the drivers side. He apparently stood there looking at the truck and talking to 3 guys until the ambulance got there, but he doesn't remember any of it. They still have him in a neck brace as radiology hasn't cleared his neck yet and that is where he is having a lot of pain. He also has a small brain bleed. They said that it is the smallest you can have that would show up. They are keeping him overnight and will do another CAT scan in the morning. It appears he was very lucky. Hopefully tonight will go well. Best case scenerio he has severe whiplash. The freight train was 25 cars long and they were loaded with road salt. Dad was driving a 10 wheeler which was fully loaded with sand. The impact flipped the truck. It is probably a good thing that he can't remember. This happened sometime between 12:30 and 1 this afternoon. I got a call around 2 and have been at the hospital since. He is in good spirits now (I think the morphine helps) and has been talking and even laughing during the evening. The owner of the truck came in and they were cracking jokes for the whole visit. Hopefully the bleed won't get worse and all will be ok. We spent from 3 PM - 8 PM in the emergency room then he was moved to a room. I will go back up in the morning to check on him.
I think that I need to write a song about this: "Grandpa Got Runover By a Freight Train" I'm sure that he would think that it was funny if the kids sang it to him.![]()
I have to keep a positive outlook. Thanks for listening.

I will farm my DH and 2 DS out to my mom down the street so we will have 3 extra bedrooms and 2 queen size blow-up mattresses. I am a compulsive planner so you know I will start working out all the details.

Whew, I think I am caught up! I can't remember everything from the over 100 pages I had to read today, but glad that everyone is relatively healthy and happy. I wished I had checked this thread while we were at the World, as I could have purchased you all sets of the Xmas Mickey ears! They were very cute - there were lots of other options, too. I bought a headband with Minnie ears with a sequined Santa hat between them!
For all of you going soon - how fabulous everything looks! I am envious - our trip wasn't all we thought it would be, unfortunately. SWA lost my suitcase for about 8 hours, our 1st night's sleigh ride at the WL got rained (no, poured!) out, and promptly after stepping inside the gates for the MVMCP on our 2nd night, DH had to head back to the WL with what turned out to be food poisoning! 6 hours later, we were in the ER for him, where I promptly began exhibiting the same symptoms! Needless to say, we saw more of the inside of our hotel room than I ever thought (or hope to see again!) on a WDW trip. We lost about 3 days - I just have to keep reminding myself that at least it wasn't a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us, and DH has already agreed that we will have to go back over the holidays soon in the coming years to experience everything properly!
I am now an expert on how to get to Celebration Hospital at midnight, where the 3 closest Walgreens are to WDW, and what CM's will do to assist you in getting over food poisoning. Here's hoping that none of you have to call on my expertise!![]()
(And why, oh why, did you guys go through all the DVC stuff? I had no idea they were running these specials! DH has already agreed we will buy in sometime - now I'm wondering if we can do so sight unseen before Jan!)
