That's a good recap Clare except for - and we continue to bash Kate. Why? Because we care!

We got our own board about 4 days ago, so it shouldn't be that far back. I would start from then. It won't take you too long to catch up!!

Oh, and Paul can fart with the best of them, so he's now called Skunka Hunka compliments of Tammi. That about covers it!!!

You know - that's just what I did! Started 4 days back and now I'm here :goodvibes

Did wonder why there was a skunk in Paul's sig - but I was "lucky"?? enough to find those posts :rotfl:

Clare - I like the picture in your signature, but I can't remember if I told you that Paul and I agreed that the picture we like the best is the one where you are inside the castle and you are leaning on your husband. I know its a posed picture, but you both look so relaxed - it doesn't look "stiff" like a posed shot. I'd be sending that out as my Christmas card this year!!!

You mean this one?

I love that one too... well I love all of them! I hate having my picture taken and DH ALWAYS pulls stupid faces when I take pictures of him so the fact that we now have about 200 nice pictures of us is a miracle! I may have to swap regularly... and am considering the xmas card idea... :goodvibes

ETA: you can tell I'm back - how many consecutive posts in a row! Anyway I'm back with you now so I can go and make my dinner as I was meant to do it 2 hours ago and I'm now starving!!!

Hi everyone. I haven't been on here much the past few days and boy do I feel like I am out of touch. I don't know what I am going to do when we go to WDW for a week!

Today we are putting up our tree and finishing the odds and ends of decorating. All the talk about snow is making me laugh. It is in the 50s here and with the sunshine it feels even warmer. But after tomorrow we are getting snow and it will be in the 30s the rest of the week. Brrrrr

All this talk about the DVC.....DH and I were discussing it the other day, and we are definitely taking the tour this time. I have one question though. Marti, you say that you have never had a problem booking outside of your home resort. Now I am just playing devil's advocate here so bear with me....why wouldn't it be smarter of me to by a resale at like Vero or Hilton, which is much cheaper than actual Disney property, even with the 15% savings? With that I can still book into BCV or OKW at 7 months, right? Just trying to look at all angles for saving money.

Ok - so we were at Epcot the day before thanksgiving and saw a family in white sweatshirts (it was FREEZING) wearing this design. I saw them a couple of times and then really stared when we were going into the land and they were coming out - the woman turned round and waved... but I wasn't sure if she was waving at me so I didn't wave back! I was wearing my bride ears but my tee was hidden by my gap sweater... please let me know which one of the DDAs you were??
Rosiejo - I can't remember who, but the person you mentioned did post that she saw you, same scenario. I'm sure whomever it was will be on here to claim it.

I just bought a basic set at the dollar store so hat we could have one in every color. I usually mix up a few eggs and make up several colors. Ben loves that the best -- CHOICES. :)

Also, like I said before, we sprinkle the crystal sugar right on top too.

ETA: I have NO idea when we can do this this year. :( We leave next weekend. We come home the following and go directly to my Mom's for the weekend. Then the weekend after that is Xmas!

Maybe I can fit it in after school one day? Maybe make up the dough ahead of time? Or cheat and just buy some canned sugar cookie dough! They're circles -- so we can make "ornaments". :)

Here's another fun thing to do with sugar cookies if you have small kids. I get salt shakers and fill them up with powdered jell-o. then before the cookies bake, I let the kids sprinkle on the color they want. They bake up bright and vibrant, and the flavor is out of the world. It is also a little less messy than candy sprinkles. Anyway, if anyone's interested, that's what we do!

Can you or any other DVC member give me a for instance......December 30th arrival and stay for 7 nights at the Grand Floridian for a 2 bedroom.....how many points would that require??

Lynn

OK Lynn - I'm using the new 06 Vacation planner that we just got in the mail. I will use 06 points because even if you bought today, you couldn't use points this year (it takes about 45 days to close).

Before I go into the numbers, please understand that the GF does not have listed a two bedroom suite. It is not part of the DVC, meaning they don't have villas. The resorts on property that have DVC: Old Key West (OKW), Beach Club (BCV), Boardwalk (BWV), Saratoga Springs (SSR), Wilderness Lodge (WLV). You can stay in a room in ANY Disney resort, however your points don't go as far. AND you've picked two nights of the most expensive time of year (Christmas week) but then you go down to the cheapest time of year (Janauary). Here is a breakdown:

2 Bedroom BCV: 336 points
2 Bedroom OKW: 286 points
Studio OKW: 103 points
GF: 1 Room, Garden View: 406 points

An OKW studio is the largest single room for DVC on property and has two queen beds, small fridge, micro, toaster, coffee maker and paper plates, cups etc. 2 Bedroom DVC villas have large living room, full size kitchen with plates, cups etc like if you rented a complete condo off site. As you can see from your example, your points go furthest at a DVC property as opposed to a Disney property. I hope this helps just a little (sorry it took me so long to answer, I had out scratch paper and my calculator!!!)

You know what - I don't see why that wouldn't work except for one thing... is the 15% only applicable to the Orlando DVC resorts? If that is the case, then you really may not be saving money buying Vero or Hilton Head. Here's an idea - start a thread with that question on the DVC board. If you don't want to - let me know and I will because it is a GREAT question and I'd be curious what the consensus is for the answer.

Hey, guess what?! I thought I'd share that the first day of our trip is almost on the 10-day forecast page! Not that weather forecasts are always right (or EVER right around here).... but it's there! Woohoo!

And I only have 1 day of classes left (tomorrow), 1 clinical skills test :scared: :crazy2: :scared1: (Tuesday), 1 residency trip (to Minneapolis, Wed-Sat) and 2 finals (next Monday) before we're OFF!

Thanks for indulging me for a moment.

BTW -- Any Minneapolis/St. Paul DDAs? I would hate to miss you all like I missed Disneyeveryyear :( Let me know! I'll have tons of spare time! :teeth:

YES!! I LOVE that one!! In England do they send pictures with your thank yous ?? They do here in the states and that would be the perfect thank you note picture. I do like the carousel one, but for a thank you to people who were not able to attend but sent a gift anyway, you may like to show them your faces. But I was very impressed with all your pictures. I think it was money WELL SPENT!!

THANKS!!!! That does help. If we went every other year then I would have 300 points to spend towards accomodations. It sounds like they really stock the room up to. Thanks Marti for all the help.

OK Lynn - just posted your question about Vero and HH on the DVC forum. I'll let you know what I've found out.

Now I've got to get something done around here today!!!

Marti - that is a FANTASTIC idea! :goodvibes

I'll post the official ceremony pictures after next weekend - I want my parents to see them in the album first before they can get a sneaky peak on my blog!

Oh - I sent Baloo a PM about changing the name of our monster thread that we chat on. I thought we might be discouraging newbies that think this thread would be all designs, all the time. I'd like to encourage getting to know newbies, and have them come aboard to chat. What do you think?? I think we'll still get the requests, still talk about t-shirts etc. but a new name might warn people that we like to talk!!!

Whaddya think??

He's interviewing at SUNY Stonybrook. I'm not sure where that is, except that it's really close to the airport. :) I'll know more details as it approaches, I'm sure!

Oh. I did just check. We'll be there the 3rd - 5th. I think that's all we have in NY, too, other than that we're driving to Delaware, maybe Massachusetts etc that week.

I have a good friend on the staff of the University, she's in Pysical Therapy. Let me know if you want me to ask her to show you around. She's a great person and will be able to answer alot of the questions you may have.

(its a university as well as a hospital, just so you know)

Not that it matters, but that was my question. Thank you for doing that. What did you say the current cost was for points? And do you know what Disney's finance rate is? I'm going to play with some numbers using the timeshare store.

I think that is a good idea. Did you suggest a name for the thread?

The current cost for points is either 92 or 98 - but I really think its 92 at SSR. I highly doubt that Vero or HH would honor the 15% down because technically the only way to purchase there is through resale (not original owndership).

I don't know what the current financing is - I can call my rep tomorrow and let you know.

ETA: Maybe Deb (my3princes) knows the answer to this - she hasn't purchased yet and I don't know how recently she took the tour. She was there in October, so she may have the most up to date info.
