I always feel so great when I pass off a table at a QS location. I might not be able to hand out magical moments like the. Cast. Members, but I just saved a family from wandering around aimlessly, staring down strangers at tables.


Sorry the GMR was not the most comfortable ride. I forgot they fill in the entire rows of each vehicle. And in the summertime, in FL, with people who might not be used to handling the humid weather...I can see how that'd make for a long ride.


I like your idea about updating the attraction with props from the Backlot Tour. I mean, why not? Rides like that can always do with a bit of updating to keep them fresh and entertaining, and all that stuff isn't going to be I'd any more.
Not to mention, I know a lot of the younger kids might enjoy seeing a scene from a film they have actually watched.

I feel for you with the stairs. I hate open staircases. at Cedar point, we went on the family tube ride, instead of the slowly ascending meandering climb up like at Blizzard beach (I take it, hubby does the ski lift which I am terrified of) they have a straight up open stair case.
Iwould pass everyone to get to the next landing.. telling all that I passed "I'lm not cutting, just trying to get to the nextlanding!! and then I would stand as close to the inside as I could.

the worst was Mammoth cave. we took the 3 hour tour (no, not with gilligan, lol). so we slowly walekd down for 3 hours to the underground river. thenwe had to walk up that whole way on one staircase!!! I was petrified. I just stared at the back of my son's head the whole way while he talked me through it.

The Great Movie ride is seriously one of my favorites...

Landen ( our youngest) loves for me to put the clip of the witch from this ride on youtube and let him watch it.. He says " I want to go dare".. It's so funny. <3

Pizza Planet is good and all but man, I disliked the stairs as well.

Hooray on good bus karma to and from HS/CBR. Too bad it was not quite good enough for you to see Hunter's debut in the IJ Stunt Show



But good for Hunter- I'm sure it was one of the highlights of the trip for him!

I know just how you feel. During our trip in 2008, my older son Nate was feeling so sick (dehydrated, I think) that we stayed behind on the day Mark and Ben went to HS. Ben was chosen for the Jedi Training Academy. Mark did take a few pictures of that. THEN, since it was Year of a Million Dreams, they took Ben backstage to have his picture taken with the cast. Mark got a picture of this too. Just one picture. He said that was all he needed. He was right!





Thanks for sharing the missing pictures of the Backlot Tour (may it RIP) and Tower of Terror.

I haven't ever been in Pizza Planet, so I don't know what those stairs look like. Sometime, when you are not petrified, you should take a picture and post it.

I don't know what is up with the CMs at the Great Movie Ride. We had the most awkward experience the last time we were on the attraction.

Bless Mark's heart for taking that single picture for you to see! Of course, you and I would have taken a half a gazillion but at least you have that one.

I'll be posting a link to the stairs at Pizza Planet which shows the stairs. They don't look that bad but to someone like me, they look scary.

The castmember on the Great Movie Ride was weird/odd/strange/I don't know what! Like your experience, it was awkward.

I got 100 on your test. I definitely knew you were heading to Pizza Planet because Hunter wanted Pizza. At least it's pretty good there.

I am pretty positive there is an elevator in Pizza Planet. Past the games, on the opposite side from where you get your food.

I wish that I had remembered that there was an elevator 'cause I knew it was there.

There are a few tables downstairs at Pizza Planet, though not many. You did have a nice view from your table upstairs!

Too bad you had a nasty gangster CM. They are supposed to have an attitude, but not make you want them to be fried for real! The Alien scene is during the gangster's takeover, and I remember having the alien not come out for us once too.

The view from our table was quite nice. Did you notice that there were hardly any people in the picture?

Oh yeah, he had an attitude alright! I didn't like him at all.

I WON!! I guessed that you guys were going to Pizza Planet because of course, Hunter needed pizza!! By the way, as a previous poster said, Pizza Planet has elevators! Ask next time and you won't have climb the scary stairs!

We drove around a bit this weekend and the devastation is heartbreaking. The National Weather Service has now confirmed that there were two tornados that touched down.

Hunter's school finally resumed today after being closed an entire week.

Yay for winning! Hunter is a pizza lovin' guy and could eat it every single day.

Don't you just love it when pictures are hanging out with other pictures out of order?

Which seems to happen a lot between Photobucket and myself.

Haha, they totally did put eyes on the planes! I've seen Planes. It's a cute movie. Not their best, but I generally love Disney movies as a whole.

I like paying it forward at crowded counter service restaurants too. It's so much nicer to tell someone that your table is available rather than just allowing them to wander around.

It's not a big handful of pixie dust to give a table away but it sure feels like it when a restaurant is busy.

ICK to the person sitting next to you on GMR with the food. That's gross.

I know! Why would they want to carry around their leftovers in that heat?

Ah...pizza planet. DH isn't on board but Olivia and I definitely can relate to the Disney pizza love. And while I don't go into complete panic I can see how those stairs could do it. Add carrying an overloaded tray to boot and yikes those stairs!!

I don't think that the Disney pizzas are bad either. Some folks think that it's horrible?

I don't like stairs for the most part but those I really don't like. I think that it's because I know that I'd have to drop all that food if I tripped or tried to hang on.

We sat upstairs at pizza planet in March but I don't remember the stairs...only that some kids felt they should sit across the way and acted put out when I asked them to move, but I guess the look I gave them made them have second thoughts.

Pizza Planet! Gee, what a surprise. I have to say I HATE all Florida pizza, but it really wasn't all that bad at Pizza Planet (I will not go out of my way to go there though).

Hunter will eat any pizza so long as their's dough, sauce and cheese.

Sounds like a not so pleasant Great Movie Ride. I actually think the whole thing needs an overhaul.

I wouldn't mind seeing some new scenes and they have the props to do it!

The gangster who yelled about the sitting down probably could have done it a bit more calmly. But my guess is that Disney has them making sure everyone is following the rules because of those who have gotten hurt on rides because they DON'T follow the rules and then they blame Disney. I can't remember what ride we were on last month, but I remember someone being told THREE times to sit down.

I can understand the castmembers having to make dumb bunnies who are standing sit down but this guy was overly obnoxious.

Sorry you guys had such a horrible storm ! I can imagine the problems it caused with no electric, downed trees and branches.
I have went on the Great Movie Ride probably a dozen times and I still love it. Oh and my favorite parts are Wizard Of Oz and Tarzan.

I have been in a sewing mood lately but had to stop dresses and backsacks to make Hunter a Joker vest for Halloween/Fall Festival at the church. It's bright green and purple.

Pizza Planet, of course. So, here is our story. I am NOT a fan of pizza, and my family is very aware of that. EVERY. TIME. we go to HS the kids want Pizza Planet...and they win EVERY. TIME. And EVERY. TIME. I cave I make them promise that "next time we will go somewhere else." Never happens... Oh, what we mammas do for our youngins! They DO have good cupcakes, though!

What us Mama's will do is crazy! In Hunter's defense, it had been at least two years since we'd been to Pizza Planet so it was return time in his opinion.

I love the Great Movie Ride.... BUT, I cringe at the scene from Alien every time I go on it. Me no like scary movies...or scenes from scary movies on fun rides!

I am with you on the scary movies! I hate hate hate them! Seriously? Who wants to be scared voluntarily?

I think we all guessed Pizza planet! (I have a nephew that pretty much will only eat Pizza so they have eaten there many times, he has actually branched out and will eat hamburgers now too! LOL)

Hunter has branched out a little himself but really enjoys pizza and fries.

We ate there this past trip, too, I thought it was pretty good. The line was out the door to get food though. We ate upstairs, there is a set of stairs in the back that are more closed in and might not be too scary for you, although I wish I knew about the elevator when we were there.

I wish that I had remembered the elevator. I had seen it before but it totally slipped my mind.

Sorry your Great Movie Ride gangster was so cranky and loud. We were in the front row when we went on it in September, it was weird sitting right next to the driver. I agree that they should make a few changes to the ride and the movie clips in the queue area, they have some newer ones at the end montage, why not the beginning?

I agree! The ride could use some updating and I am betting that it wouldn't be hard to do with all the props they have.

Oh geeze! Sounds kinda like our entrance into Marvel Cave at Silver Dollar City. I'll find pictures and post the entrance. Scary stuff just like your walk UP the stairs in Mammoth Cave.

Some of ya'll said that you've been to Pizza Planet and remember the stairs but not what they looked like. I found a video that has the stairs in it:

While those stairs don't look intimidating to the average Joe or Joette, for someone who has a fear of heights, they look downright terrifying.

Smidgy, you were talking about the walk up the stairs at Mammoth Cave and it reminded me of the walk down into Marvel Cave in Missouri. You walk down a narrow pathway:

to the teeny tiny entrance:

The guide tells everybody to move forward and they shut the door behind you. And, when your eyes get adjusted, you realize that you are standing on a piece of tiny concrete that's waaaaay at the top of those stairs in the picture.

To say that I freak out each and every time (yes, you read that right....I've been in it at least four times that I can remember) I tell John that he has to keep hold of the kids because I simply can't. I'm trying to make my way down a narrow set of stairs and you can see all the way down and through what they call "bars/handrails". You can see those better in this picture:

The handrails and stairs even deeper into the cave look like this:

Before going into the meeting area, they tell you that you will be going through some very small areas and if you are claustrophobic you may not want to go in. Here's the cutout that you must be able to fit through in order to take the tour:

You don't climb back out of the cave because it's so steep. You ride in this contraption:

The Great Movie Ride was an attraction that we hadn’t done yet

There's usually a reason for that...

Since the Backlot Tour is closed and the props are probably going to be stored in a warehouse or something, why doesn’t Disney try to incorporate them into The Great Movie Ride? They could probably easily change out the first scene that you see on the ride...a picture is coming up...and put in some of the Chronicles of Narnia props that I posted a picture of earlier. I’m betting there are a lot of scenes that could be changed out without a lot of work. That’s my suggestion to Disney. Maybe I should send them a note and ask them to put it in their suggestion box.

Or they could just tear it all up to build awesome Star Wars or Cars rides.

Even though there were still some open benches/seats, the castmembers made us all cram in and they put as many folks on our row that they could. I’m talking we were smashed in there like sardines in a tin can. And, the person next to us had leftovers from their meal that smelled like
they had been carried around in the heat all day long. So, not only did we feel like sardines but we were smelling things that smelled like sardines.

Ew. I suddenly have a name for the vehicle but I don't think I can type it here.

Then the gangster/guide jumped up from his seat and screamed again “Sit down!” Everybody around us looked at each other like “Is this guy for real or just kidding?” Either he took his job really seriously or he was being a little turdface and abusing his powers as a guide to take out a little frustration. Can we say someone needs a dunk in a vat of pixie dust?

I hope he gets disintegrated and turned into a skeleton.

By the time we reached the part where our guide gets fried and turned into a skeleton, we were all ready for him to get fried and turned into a skeleton.

Our ride through The Great Movie Ride with a rude gangster, smooshed up against other people and stinky leftovers done, thank goodness, we stepped outside and into the fresh air. It wasn’t time to use our next Fastpass yet so we walked to the next attraction that we wanted to see which was just around the corner.

The wait time was short so we joined the others who were in line and immediately wished that we had waited for more people to go ahead of us. Why? We were right beside a super obnoxious family. They were from another country and their conversations were interspersed with their native language and English. Yet, when a castmember would tell them not to lean on the railings, they acted like they couldn’t understand them and continued to let their kids swing on them and they, themselves, sat on them. They continued their chatting and threw their cups and napkins on the ground and would act totally oblivious when a castmember told them that there was a trash can near the turnstile that they were about to go through.

Now, I know that there are some people who travel to Disney and they really truly can’t understand English or maybe very little of it. I get that. Even though I do not know any other languages, I have helped people who were struggling with certain words on a menu at a counter service restaurant or guided them to a bathroom on a map that they still couldn’t understand. When I know good and well that a person understands English and they try to get away with rude behavior, it chaps my rear.

As soon as the doors opened and guests were allowed into the pre-show area, we made sure that we walked as far away from the rude family as we could. I really don’t know why they call the waiting room for this particular attraction a pre-show because there’s really nothing to do but stand there and listen to some chirping seagulls. The doors opened and we entered into the theater. For some reason, we broke the cardinal rule of letting quite a few people go in front of us so that we wouldn’t be seated waaaaay down on the end of the row. And, guess what happened? We were waaaay down on the end of the row. Oh well.

The lights dimmed and I tried my hand at taking pictures. I thought that they turned out pretty well despite the fact that I didn’t do anything but point and shoot:

When Ursula came in, John leaned over and said “Just look at those tentacles on Ursula. I bet she could get a suck on ya that you couldn’t get loose from!” and I laughed outloud! I’m talking one of those snortin’ loud kinda laughs. I couldn’t help it and hated it if I disturbed those around me but the man comes up with the craziest things.










There’s a girl’s head in the rest of the pictures because I believe she had put her feet into the seat and sat on her legs to see better.









Eric and Ariel did a little kissy face and the show ended. Even though Voyage of the Little Mermaid could be considered a girly show, the guys enjoyed it too which could or couldn’t have been attributed to the fact that a red head was sitting atop a rock in nothing but a tail fin and a shell bra.

**Up next: There’s no way that a T-Rex could do this! His arms are too short!
