Disney dangled the visual weinee & Mickeystoontown gobbled it up! 10/26

Hi Lisa, I thought I commented last time I got on, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Looks like you had a great AK day. Using Hunter's winnings was a great idea.

I probably wanted to comment on several things but all I can think about now is your Dinosaur photo. So, yeah, we love Dinosaur and love taking photos on it even better. We ALWAYS talk about buying a dino from the dump shop to use as a prop.... so I am dying that it isn't just us. AND dying even more over what you did! Total classic! Yay, Dinosaur!

And what is it about Dinosaur that makes us want a prop. I seriously don't think any other ride gives me that urge.

Good morning! :yay: I'm still here, catching up. After our October trip I went into DW (Disney Withdrawal) and then the holidays hit with a vengeance. :santa: So I just wanted to let you know I'm here reading (yes I'm one of those that has to read all of the chatter. :listen: ok I know he's listening but we'll pretend that he's reading. :rolleyes1 ::yes::) And I will catch up! :thumbsup2 :surfweb:

Finally caught back up. I'm back in school now so it's a bit busy working full time & going to school full time doesn't leave much dis time. But I've got to make time I need to start my preteip soon :cool1: I love the picture that was pretty great thinking.

Back a couple of updates... :rolleyes1

The story and the pictures of the scared-y monkeys are too funny!

Really nice pictures on EE. This last one really makes the ride look scary!

Hunters pictures of people on the ride are really good, too. Too bad it wasn't your train.

:)

We have never played any of the carnival games. They do look like fun. Maybe when I am there with the teenagers on the class trip. That would be a blast.

Check out the dinosaur made from a gas nozzle:

Dee, I know that you’ll be proud of me for spotting “your” hidden Mickey:

That dinosaur is really clever, especially when you consider where gas comes from!

:cool1: on my favorite HM!!!

:goodvibes

party:

Can't wait to see what you wear on the red carpet to the "Mickeys" Maybe John can wear his new hat.

:rotfl2:

Can't wait to hear about and see all the goodies you get in the Disney party box!

:)

Just wanted to say congratulations!! Also I absolutely adore Pittsburgh. We visited last April and had a ball! If you could send me some Pamela's lyonnaise potatoes it would be appreciated :rotfl: I promise I'm a nice Philadelphian!

Ok back to the regularly scheduled programming :hyper:

Aren't they the best potatoes you ever had! When we go to the strip, it's my favorite place to eat breakfast. If you come to Pittsburgh again, you have to try Peace, Love and Little Doughnuts , they are so yummy!

Thanks for the congrats!

I'm not caught up yet but had to post about the Ski lift chairs. On our first trip (it was a "we are just going this once, so make the most of it" trip) so we went to both water parks. Now I'm not afraid of heights, I do the repairs on our roof after wind storms. (DH is REALLY afraid of heights) But when I was on that thing all i could think was, "OMGosh the cables are going to break and my children and I will be plummeting to our deaths at Disney." Yep we all took the stairs the rest of the day. ::yes::

OMG, that Dinosaur picture is awesome! Great use of the prizes. :worship:

That is so cool that you get to host the Disney side party. I can't wait to see what you come up with! Almost makes me wish I lived near you guys, I might have had to invite myself. :rotfl2:

Thank you!

Well, you could always take a road trip to Louisiana...just sayin'.

I love your Dinosaur picture! That is awesome!

We always play "Guess the Screamer" when we ride Dinosaur. The first time we rode it was when my oldest was tall enough, so we had no clue what we were in for. She cried through the entire ride. (Of course, now she loves it). It's one of those rides where you MAY be tall enough, but you probably aren't ready. So we try to figure out which rider will be the one who screams the most...adult or child.

I love the Guess the Screamer idea! Might have to take that one from you.

Congrats on the party! That's awesome!

I love the Dinosaur pic. Perfect use of props!

You got some great AK pics. I would also like to see a picture of John's hat!

I'm excited about hosting the party.

Another request for a picture of John's hat. Guess I need to take one and post it.

Haven't been on the boards for a long time, so joining back in....My daughter's bridal shower is Feb 8th with wedding March 21st, so I've been a little busy.... :) Congratulations Lisa on getting to host a party! Can't wait for pictures. I'm so excited for you! Will be looking forward to the next trip report too! Sadly no trip for us this year....:sad1:

Welcome back! And congratulations on your daughter's upcoming wedding.

I do that a lot. Read, think that I post but then find out that I didn't. We had a fantastic day at the Animal Kingdom.

You can play a couple of games and win your props. It's a win-wit situation.

I hate the Disney withdrawals. I had a bad case of them a while ago and couldn't seem to make myself write. Now, I'm writing about it all the time since I joined the Magical DIStractions writing team.

I was pretty proud of that picture as I am usually hanging on too tightly to take many pictures.

I know. It was a bummer that neither one of the pics had us in it.

It's be something with a Mickey on it for sure. ;)

I took pictures of every single item in the box. It's a ton of stuff!

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who was scared of the chair lifts. They looked too scary for me to even give them a try so you are braver than I am.

So sorry that I haven't posted another update. I seem to have been slacking on my trip report but I do have good excuses. 1) Photobucket, as always, is giving me fits. I have enough pictures for the next update but was trying to upload for the one after that so that I could get a chapter title. 2) Most of you know that I have begun writing for Magical DIStractions and have been busy with those articles. If you haven't read the articles that I have written so far, please take a minute and head over to the site and take a look. If you need links, let me know and I'll post them here for you. 3) My DisneySide@homecelebration box came in and I've been in Disney party planning mode; 4) Mama is going back and forth on whether or not to go to Disney. She is 81 and I know that it will be a bit tough on her to go physically. And, she's had some medical/dental issues come up that we are dealing with and making decisions on. 5) I've had two baby showers to go to in the last two weeks. See, I have good excuses. But, excuses are just that, excuses and I'm going to make an effort to get more posted on my report this week. I pinky promise! Hang in there pretty please!

WOW you have been busy!!! I am SO SO excited for your party!!!

Your articles have been fantastic!!!

Don't worry we're still here. I live your articles and can't wait to hear about your party.

Thank you both for sticking around! I'm working on an update now. It's my goal to have at least three posted this week. Mind you, I said that's my goal...not that I'll reach it. ;)

Finally caught up with with your fantastic trip report, thanks so much for sharing :goodvibes

I appreciate all the CBR info and pics (and also over on the CBR thread), we are staying here in May/June. Love all the details you add to your TR, looking forward to reading more :yay:

Yay for being caught up and being here! Looks like we'll be at the resort at the same time.

Another update is coming right up!

Hunter gets Fliked on at Planet Hollywood!

We didn’t actually walk out of the Animal Kingdom park until around 5:45 p.m. and we had a dinner reservation at Planet Hollywood at 8:00 p.m. By the time we waited for the bus and then the actual bus ride, we really didn’t have a whole lot of time to dilly dally. Well, actually, we could have dillyed AND dallyed if we didn’t care a hoot about jumping in the shower and washing the funkiness of the hot day from our bodies. But, we did give a hoot (and I’m sure that the others riding on the bus with us were happy that we did ;)) so we took turns in the bathroom and were walking out the door in plenty of time to catch the bus to Downtown Disney.

The Pleasure Island bus stop was closed so we had to walk from The Marketplace bus stop to Planet Hollywood which normally wouldn’t have been that big of a deal. However, given the walls of Downtown Disney looked like a maze set up for lab rats, making that walk was a little more difficult. Eventually, we were able to duck behind one of the stores and took the sidewalk near the parking lot to get to Planet Hollywood.

The hostess at the end of the staircase told us that we could go on up and check in at the podium inside. They took our name and we were told to go up the stairs to the next level and give them our name. When we got upstairs, there was a short line and I took a picture of the props used in the movie Ghost. Only that good looking Patrick Swayze could make fiddling with mud on a turntable look so sexy.

Our name was taken and we were told that they were cleaning off our table and it would be ready in a few minutes. In no time, we were escorted to our table which was located alongside the outer wall. Yay! No seeing down to the bottom floor! What we could see were the cool props all around us, beside us and above us:

Our waiter came around and took our drink orders and commented on the fact that we were celebrating Hunter’s birthday. He made some suggestions for our entrees and off he went to get our drinks. The music was pumping in the restaurant that night and I believe that there was possibly a live D.J. that evening. I know that we have seen them there in the past.

The waiter came to our table with our drinks and asked if we needed any more help deciding or if we were ready to order. We all went with the recommendations that he made which just so happened to be what we had thought about ordering anyway. Before going to put our order in, the waiter told us to watch out for a special message just for Hunter. In the meantime, Hunter was loving the music that was playing in the restaurant that night.

In what seemed like short time, our entrees appeared at our table and they looked absolutely delicious. John ordered the L.A. Lasagna - A California twist to a classic lasagna! Fresh pasta tubes filled with ricotta cheese and bolognese meat sauce fried to a golden brown with garlic cream and tomato basil sauces

I ordered the Sizzling Fajitas - Your choice of chargrilled chicken or beef served with sizzling onions, red and green peppers, cheddar and jack cheeses, flour tortillas, shredded lettuce and Mexican fiesta rice. You may have noticed that there are shrimp on my platter. When making the suggestions from the menu, our waiter had told me that I could substitute shrimp for the beef.

Hunter ordered New York Strip Steak - USDA choice 12 oz. strip steak chargrilled to order. Served with baked potato and fresh sautéed vegetables and, as is always the case when it comes to picky eater Hunter, he substituted the side with double fries.

While we were eating, we heard an announcement and this appeared on the huge screen on the restaurant wall.

Hunter got Flicked on at Planet Hollywood!

Our meals were outstanding! I’m talking lick-the-plate good and, for that very reason, we are going back in May. We were simply too full from our delicious entrees to order any desserts.

When I was planning our trip, I had one extra table service meal booked and this was the meal that we were going to pay out of pocket for. I was going to use the $10 off voucher that came with our Magic Your Way Package but dumb bunny me forgot to bring it with me. :headache: It frustrated me to no end but it was what it was and I couldn’t change it. Oh well! I ducked into the bathroom before we left and Hunter took a picture of one of the costumes worn in the movie Titanic:

When we left Planet Hollywood, we went to our right and came upon this guy playing a didgeridoo. We had seen him before and he was quite good so we stopped for a minute to watch him play.

After a while, we were ready to move on which mean that we had to weave our way through the walls and the crowds. We were pretty much walking one right after another because of all of the people. Finally, we came to an open spot outside of World of Disney and we could walk more easily. Starbucks had recently opened a location there and John was in need of a good cup of coffee:

Coffee in hand, John was now a happy man. He loves his coffee and drinks it all day long, not just in the morning. We made a quick stop in Once Upon A Toy just because:

As I said, we only stopped “just because”. We weren’t looking for anything in particular. It was just one of those “let’s wander around” sorta evenings. Well, I say that but we wouldn’t have been in that same frame of mind had we been on the other side of the wall maze. :sad2:

We passed by the pin store and I snapped a quick picture:

Our stroll took us past or into the other stores along the way to the bus stop. Apparently, I took no other pictures until we came upon this not so hidden Mickey:

The bus stops were a madhouse since the Pleasure Island stop was now closed. The castmembers were there directing guests to the correct lines which made it easier but, still, people were running around like they were a chicken with it’s head cut off. How did Hunter feel about all the crazy folks around him?

Nah, it wasn’t as bad as all that but it wasn’t pleasant either. Thankfully, Caribbean Beach Resort is not that far from Downtown Disney so the bus ride itself wasn’t that long and traffic wasn’t as bad as it had been a few days before. When we got to our room, we turned on the television and used the time to unwind from our busy day.

**Up next: Oh dear! Did your ear get stuck in a waffle iron?

Oh man, DTD is such a mess! And every time I went last year it was different which made it even more confusing.

Planet Hollywood looks good. I haven't made it there yet since there are so many restaurants to try at WDW. Someday... Very cool though that they recognized Hunter's birthday.

I've never noticed that Mickey head made of lights. I'll have to keep my eye open next time I'm down there.
