Disney Cuts After Hours Event Price for Passholders

That is a good discount. Now as a DVC and AP holder do you hold out for free tickets or just buy at discount? Nice to have choices!

Why? If the first event (not sure about the 2nd) had all tickets distributed why would it be more crowded? While they didn't necessarily sell every ticket the first night between the sold ones and the given away ones it was my understanding all tickets available were gone
I'm just saying they can sell as many tickets as they want to. There is no max amount of tickets they will sell. They never advertised a cap on sales, only that it would be "fewer guests".

I think it should be a $75 price point for everyone. But I'm not running the show. I was asked about price points on a survey last summer. I wonder if those surveys were sending out feelers leading up to all these special events?

$75 does make it more affordable, but that is about the cost of parties. And we all know what happened to those events. Once. You make a price that is attractive to most people, you have the chance that more folks will wnat to purchase, and then Disney adds a "few" more into the inventory for sale.

But $75 makes sense to me. It puts it in line with MNSSHP and MVMCP. You're getting 25 attractions, snacks and drink, and lower crowds. If it continues to follow suit, it's no lines.

EMH is still available on other days. Yes, there are less EMH, but it's been a downward trend for a few years, so it's kind of been anticipated.

Yes, and now we move towards more paid for events. I am not opposed to these events, but what if the $75 price point is the point that allows Disney to extend these after hours events until teh regula party season starts in September? At $75 Disney can sell way more than they could at $149, so I bet you a buck that the events, f extended will not be limited to 3000 people.

As long as they didn't raise the attendance limit I don't think it will be an issue. The first one was "sold out" even if some were given away and it was still quite empty in the park.

Oh they will.

Exactly. Reduce the cost per ticket, increase the number of tickets sold. Now you have a problem if you are a guest who chooses not to buy the ticket, or if you are a guest visiting when these events are in place. IMO< at least.

still not going on 5/8. I'm going to a bar instead. Maybe Sam's or Jock's, or Top of the World.

I see there are still those anticipating that there are going to be hour waits for the rides. But I'm not going anyway so I won't find out. I guess the best case scenario is that Disney says, whoa, that wasn't a good idea, and stops having after hours events.

I received an email on this a few minutes ago. Here are the Important Details from the bottom:

"Important Details

Magic Kingdom Park closing times vary. Admission to this event requires a separately priced ticket valid only during specific event dates and hours. Limit four tickets per Passholder per transaction. Attractions, entertainment and experiences are subject to change without notice. A valid Annual Pass must be shown at the time of ticket pick-up. Check in as early as 7 p.m."

To me, it sounds like I could buy 4 tickets with my annual pass, and show just my annual pass to pick up those tickets. Then give those tickets to three other people who do not have APs. I would confirm that if I was going to do it, but that's what it sounds like to me.

We'll just have to disagree. If they were willing to give away tickets to the event that sold for $149 it won't "cost" them more to sell those given away tickets for $75. I do not believe they will increase the number of tickets offered. The low attendance is a HUGE selling point for these events.

IF they were all about money why don't they sell more tickets to tours and what not? Make them larger, give less. They could but they don't. They aren't because the exclusive nature of them is part of the selling point

Just like I never expect to get pixie dust at a hotel and book what I want to stay in, I bought the tickets because I want to go not to hold out and get them free. I'm not sure they're have been additional reports of them giving tickets to DVC members

First two nights it was an empty park with a few paying and lots of free tickets. Almost everyone is now thinking this is a great deal, does that mean the end of walk on rides?
This is why I hope it doesn't get lowered to $75 for all. DVC and APs fine. But if $75 is available to the public I would see this getting a lot more crowded fast. UNLESS they would stick to 'X' amount of tickets- but then even at that point tickets would probably be difficult to get and will sell out quickly. At least make it same price as a 1 day ticket.

$149 was too expensive for us. We love the EMH and at $75 would certainly think about it if we had the option (no AP or DVC yet). If the discount attracts enough AP/DVC members then I see it continuing as is. I do think they'll raise the attendance levels some if they "sell out". Otherwise you would potentially lose those willing to pay $149 if sold mostly to DVC/AP and others wanted in at the full price. Maybe they set a certain max # of DVC/AP tickets and hold the rest for full price? I will follow along to see if they end up reducing the pricing for on-site guests or general attendance. The only negative I see is the potential stress on the attractions. The wear and tear of operating the extra hours may mean more break downs/refurbish periods for a lot of the aging systems. Hopefully that is offset somehow. To those going, enjoy it. Not too many ways to walk onto rides anymore with the record attendance.

$75 is still pretty expensive for me, given the time. If this started at 8:00 pm and went until 11:00? I'd be all over it-I might think about it when the parks close earlier. I struggle staying up that late, and I am even more exhausted than normal when at WDW. Even at $75? I think it is not for me. Too expensive for 11:00-2:00.

The notice on the AP site indicates that this is indeed the case. That only a limited number of tickets are available to AP members at a discount

Our vacation starts on Sunday so I just went ahead and got tickets at the DVC discount.....huge splurge yes but we have not been to WDW for over 4 years and it may be a while until we return so its a splurge for sure. But on a good note, I had us scheduled to do early entry at MK on the day after and now we can do something else during that morning since we will be there until late the night before! I was actually hoping that they would offer free passes during our time but when this opened up for a DVC discount at half off I figure it was unlikely that they would extend a freeby on the night we wanted to go since its next week.

I suppose we'll learn a bit tomorrow night if there are any reports that can compare to the first night. First night was considered sold out. Right now tomorrow night is not. We'll see if tomorrow night feels more crowded based on reports, the same or less.

Well, since they have extended the event past the original dates into June, I don't think this is the case. I think they adjusted the AP cost to not penalize them for having an AP. Technically, an AP holder has already paid for the first three hours of these events; charging them full price would cause them to double pay for the hours when the park is already open. To me, this adjustment just makes sense. (It would be different if you had to have a park ticket in addition to the event, but you don't.)
I don't think they have extended the DAH into June...only the Morning Magic is scheduled in June. But correct me if I'm wrong.

ETA: I should read the whole thread before responding...lol.
