My husband and I have been on 17 Disney cruises with #18 on the Treasure scheduled for early next year. I am 62, and he is almost 57. We don't have children, but we do love DCL and are DVC members.

We love the ships, even though we found ourselves confounded by the layout of the Wish. We have been on all five of the current in service ships. While I would love to sail on the Adventure, it's not high on my list of things to do.

I enjoy the service, shows, activities, and overall atmosphere. We don't normally do character meet & greets, but we did when MDAS first rolled out. Only one time did we feel pressure from our server to provide excellent ratings on the survey.

What about everyone else?

As my signature notes - 28 cruises (12 on DCL), only 2 to Alaska (not DCL). We started cruising late (after kids were "old enough to take care of themselves while we're gone", but we've done a lot (IMO)

I love the shows on DCL, for the most part, but I'm not fond of the "dinner & a show" thing in the MDRs now. It's noisy enough in there without adding a show that not everyone can see anyway.

We've yet to experience Tiana's because we have been on the Wonder once (Alaska). I would like to sail on her again.

The only show that I'll gladly skip is Animator's when you do the drawings. Service feels extra rushed those nights.

Anyone else like us and prefer second dining? We tend to eat later at home. I also like going to the adult shows in the evening, but we don't stick around afterwards. Sometimes we'll watch a late movie.

Been on 56 DCL cruises with our first the Maiden Voyage of the Disney Magic back on July 30, 1998. We started out cruising with our young children who are now parents themselves and the journey continues.....we love, as grandparents, seeing our young grandkids experience DCL. It just makes us so happy to travel with our kids and grandkids but more often than not....due to busy schedules....my husband and I cruise with friends more often lately. I still get just as excited boarding the ship (have been on all the current ships with the Destiny booked for 2026) as I did on our first DCL many, many years ago!!!

We are both 61 and started cruising when the kids were 3 and 5. They are now 24 and 27.

Took them on a family cruise last Dec. and just finished a Halloween one with my daughter(24). She is a kid at heart and wore us out going to everything. Duck hunting is her favourite since the Christmas one. I know we aren’t suppose to hide ducks anymore but she found 10 on the first 4 day and 8 on the second 4 day we just finished .

When it’s just the 2 of us we relax more go or not go to things. We are going on the Treasure beginning of Feb .It will be our 20th cruise. We are grateful we can afford to go and are retired now.

We're on the 2/8 departure. Are you on that one or the week before? We'll be staying at Riviera on DVC points 2/7 and using DCL transportation to and from the port. No excursions this time so I'm treating myself to a pedicure, and he's getting a shave (loves it).

We are on Feb 1-8 so just before you. We were just on the Wish getting off Oct.25 .

We are also on the Feb 1 Treasure cruise. We are DVC and will stay at the Polynesian before our cruise.
Unfortunately, our Oct Wish cruise was canceled due to the Hurricane.
Looking forward to spending a lot of time in the Haunted Mansion bar. 🍻

We were also on the Wish during hurricane Ian. Was suppose to do back to back then but the second one was cancelled. Ended up staying on 6 days instead of 4 .

We will be at Art of Animation I think . Usually Port Orleans but have started to doing this one and Pop if it’s a short stay. Only be 3 days before. Like the cruises we don’t need to do everything anymore…lol

Wow! You were on the Wish that could not get to port for us! We wondered if you all were happy with the extension of your cruise.
We received 20% discount on our next cruise because of the cancellation. We were able to apply the discount to our already booked Feb 1 cruise on the Treasure.
Totally agree with you. We also have only 3 days before the cruise at Disney. 😁

Do any of you think a cruise would be good for a solo, older traveler? I've always avoided cruises because they seemed more like a couples or family style vacation so I wasn't sure I'd enjoy it alone. What do you think?

Well I’m doing one solo next week I’ll let you know - I’m really looking forward to it - I’m putting myself out there to have fun by myself and not focus on the fact that I’m by myself / I can come and go as I please and do what I want without having to worry about anyone else so I think it sounds wonderful !!!!

It depends on what you want to get out of it. My very first cruise I took with my cousin when we were in our 20s; it was on Carnival. At dinner we were seated with a honeymooning couple and a single solo female traveler. We were close in age and all got along well; we met up outside of dinner time to hang out.

Some people enjoy it for the peace. You can do as much or as little as you want. I spend a large part of our cruises wandering alone because my husband is too slow in the mornings. If you choose to do ship-based excursions, you'll be with others; but you aren't forced to interact unless it's something you want.

My daughter & I are planning my Grandson's 1st Family Cruise in April. He will only be 2 yrs old, but we are excited just the same! I'm not sure if we are doing land or just Sea yet, but either way, it will be his 1st trip to Disney! This will be my 3rd time aboard DCL, Lucky you for going on #18!!

I just booked a solo river cruise with Viking. DH and I did one a few years ago and I think I can enjoy it alone while he is off on another scuba trip. The single supplement is rough, there are some cruise lines building cabins for solo cruisers or reducing the extra cost.
