Was looking to book the 3 day cruise and do a 5 day stay afterward at the world. Was wondering since im paying out of pocket for the cruise, can i book it through dvc member services? And if i do, do we as members get any discount for doing so? Joe

I don't think so but if you book thru the dis , the sponsor of this site and pay with a chase Disney visa you should get some on board credits ( free money ) . it may only be a little but it is free .

No, I don't think there are ever any DVC member discounts for cash cruises. We did receive some free gifts on our cruise for being DVC members (magnet on door, draw string bags, hats). We did not tell anyone we are DVC members or book through DVC, they figure it out ahead of time hoping to get people to add on during their cruise. You can get an onboard gift or credit by booking through a TA. The amount varies from TA to TA. If you are a Costco member and book through them, you will get a Costco card in return. I think the amount is typically 9-10% of the cruise cost.

There was a special cruise discount from October to early December for 30% off 7 night disney Magic cruises. We just got back 2 weeks ago. It does happen sometimes.

If you book through DVC, you must use points for at least one passenger. Any 'cash' portion is at a set rate as negotiated between DCL & DVC and is due in full at the time of booking.

The only exception is the DVC Member Cruise which can be all 'cash'.

We booked through Costco. Found them to have the best deal with Costco cash return.
We just did a 4 night in October and had a blast. Though I missed the world since we only spent 2 nights there. A 4 night cruise followed by 5 nights at the world sounds perfect. If only these kids could miss more school...

Good to know, did at least one person have to cruise on points? Where can discount info be found, DVC website or DCL? I think I remember hearing about that discount now that you mention it, but with kids who can't be pulled out of school I did not pay much attention.

It was a 'cash' discount rate offered by DCL. When these are offered by DCL, they are typically after PIF date. They are about the same rate as other discounts offered by DCL to non-members.

Surprisingly this offer was before the pif date. This was announced in July for cruises late oct, nov and early dec. I'm sure that's not always the case. The offer was only for the 7 night cruises on the Magic. The offer was 30% off while the last minute cruises are generally 20% off. I know because I had been watching the last minute listings daily. This deal was much better. I did check it against the last minute rates. The dvc offer was over $500 less and for a better stateroom, plus it was not gty. You actually got an assigned room, which I changed several times before arriving. For my cabin, I saved $1200 over the price. I paid $1900 for a party of two for a 5b veranda. My daughter saved $1100 for her OV cabin.

The offer was on the dvc website, but later I got an email. There was a dcl phone number to call and you had to mention a code dvc offer. Because it was before the pif date I only put a deposit down and had a month before full payment was due. I had to fax a copy of my dvc member card to dcl within 48 hours after booking. This past offer let the dvc member book up to 3 cabins at this rate for friends and family. We all used cash. It was only for certain categories. For veranda cabins it seem to be 5B. I would do it again if offered.
