I'm really glad I found this forum, have learned quite a bit even though I have been to Disney many times.

We are going on our first cruise this spring. I have RA, right now it affects my neck and hip, but my ankles aren't so good after an hour or so of walking. I do have full ROM in my hip, it just hurts if I am up too much. Poor ROM in the neck. Also the stiffness thing is a big problem (all over) after too much sitting. We have a category 4 stateroom near the elevators in the back of the ship. Is there anything I should watch out for? Anything that's bumpy or involves a lot of standing or sitting without being able to get up? It's only the 3-day cruise (we wanted to be sure we liked cruising before spending too much more)! We want to see Nassau- how far is the walk? Any other way to see the town without an excursion (we're kind of independent in that regard)? What about Castaway Cay? Any tips would be appreciated. Also, is there a sharps disposal on board. Thank so much!

I think you will love the cruise.

I have ankle, knees and hips issues and the only problem was the Walt Disney Theater where all the nightly big shows are. Only the steps on the far edges of the theater have hand rails. It was not a problem after I figured out to go to the side but it was close to impossible for me to walk down or back up from the other aisles.

If you have neck problems, you might want to get to the show early enough to pick a seat in the center section. The shows are not that long, but I did think I stiffened up during the sitting and would need to take my time getting up and going afterwards. I have the same problems going to the movies so I was prepared for that.

There isn't much walking to do in Nassau really so you'll be fine with that. The town itself is really close to the port and unless you want to go see things like Atlantis there's only really the town. Atlantis you can get a taxi to but independantly you can't see much of without a ticket.

Shows and stuff you may have issues as some are quite long but then you may or may not want to do these and if you do sit on the isle that way you can get up if needed.

On Castaway there is a bit of a walk to the main beach so get the trolley to save on walking. There's an adult beach and a family beach both of which are nice. The Adult beach requires another shuttle but once there find a spot near the entrance to the beach as then you're near the buffett and bar (although there is a waitress that comes round selling drinks).
