Disney Cruise or Disneyworld, FL. or even maybe Carnival or Royal Caribbean. Which is less expensive? I'm just curious.

Sometime in late June or July or early August.
2 adult- 2 children+3 yr old. Driving to Orlando
WDW- 4 day parkhopper. 5 nights @ POR (sleeps 5)
WDW- 4 sitdown dining (character meals)

Cruise- 4 night cruise (outside cabin (with porthole)
Cruise- will probably do 2 excursion

Just wondering.. Thank you in advance! (You are welcome to add approx. how much the cost would be.)

I'd like to do both!!

Honestly, I (personally) believe there are far too many variables to give you a dollar value on either one. Keep in mind on the cruise you don't have to pay for food. On the cruise, you have to make sure you can all fit in one stateroom!! Excursions on the cruise vary in cost dramatically depending on what you decide to do.

I guess I'm not much help. I think you should go with the one you want to do most!!

.

Carnival will probably be the cheapest option. You can get a week long cruise on Carnival for under $500 a person. The third and fourth person in a cabin are also discounted. The shorter cruises are even less.

You can have fun pricing cruises on sites like:
cruise.com
cruisesonly.com
cheapertravel.com
cruise411.com

I love Disney, but that time of the year is too hot and sticky for me so I'd probably choose the cruise to relax. But..we do got to Disney almost every February so that's why I wouldn't mind a cruise in the summer.

Have fun whatever you decide.

Hi Telly, guess Hawaii is not on the table anymore....hmmmm, I was going to say the cruise for your oldest DS, but then a 3 year old at WDW...SUCH a magical age...what do the kids think? Iimagine cruise rates are down in August, I am one to save on dining and add a night to the trip..but with a smaller one I know downtime is key...tough one Telly. I have a dreadful fear of water at night so I have never looked into Cruising, so no help on cost from me, sorry!

Of course I would choose a Royal Caribbean cruise!
Carnival and Royal Caribbean are about the same cost for a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas. But in my opinion, Royal Caribbean's ships are nicer. Carnival seems to be "old Las Vegas" theme to me. Royal also has resident sales based on the state you live in. So when on the Royal Caribbean site searching for a cruise, always put in your state to see if there are any more discounts.

Thank you everyone for your input and the links.. Will definitely look it up!
I guess a 4 night with Royal or Carnival would definitely be cheaper than DCL.
I love the fact that on the cruise, you don't have to pay for the food and you can eat all day if you want..

Hi FINFAN. Well.. Hawaii is still there with Disneyworld.. I'm just throwing the cruise in the mix to see what if maybe cruise might be even better as far as cost-wise. I was thinking the same thing.. my DS3 will definitely enjoy WDW. while the older children would probably love th cruise. Agree, the cost of the cruise would be down in August it's probably maybe because of hurricane season..

When you say 2 adults , 2 children + 3 year old. does that mean you actually have three children?:confused3

If so a cruise is going to cost more then POR at Disney. At least there they have rooms that can have 5 people . On a cruise, any cruise you will have to have two state rooms or a suite because they only allow 4 people to a room and that will mean a lot of money.

Last year we took all of our adult children plus our one grandson (3 at the time) to WDW for a week and then on a DCL cruise. 9 out of 11, including the 3 year old, had a lot more fun on the cruise.

I'm actually going to both!

I am doing disney for one day, and staying at coronado spring resort 2 nights, then we are going on a 3 day disney cruise.

total cost for the trip, $2100 <-- that is 3 day cruise, 1 park day at disney, disney meal plan for 2 nights = family of 3:yay:
