How much is a taxi to Port Canaveral from Pop century? Or is there a Disney Cruise Line bus i can use instead?

Am tempted to not stay offsite for a week and instead start our trip with a 3 or 4 night cruise.

Well surprise surprise.:lmao:
Is that Discovery Cove knocked on the head, then?

Hi

Disney cruise line do transfers from wdw to port and its approx $69 per person.
Disney only pick up at certain hotels though (not all so you might need to take a taxi to the nearest one) you get picked at approx 12.15pm and get to the port around 1.30pm

Another option is to get a town car service and you pay $230 return for up to 4 passengers - you get to choose the pickup time.

For my first 3 cruises i used the transfers - now we prefer the towncar as we want to get to the port early.

Be warned though DCL is addictive;)

Any other questions please feel free to ask

:thumbsup2 Thanks, I think getting a bus from another hotel is the best option as its just me and DD going.

What happens when you get to the port and can i book a hotel transfer through Disney or can i turn up at the hotel and pay?

Sorry to hijack your thread Emma. :flower3:

Helen - who do you use for the towncar to the port? I am trying to sort out my transfers at the moment.

When you book the cruise you get the option of adding on the transfers - I don't think you can add them once at the resort.

If you want to start your hols with a cruise I would say if you can possibly swing it go for the 4 rather than the 3 night. We did a 3 night in Aug 04 and it really was over too quickly. We are doing a 7 night this summer which I am really looking forward to. We found that we had just got our bearings and into the swing of the cruise and it was time to pack and leave!

Enjoy whatever you decide!

Hi in the past we used fltours but there was a lot of talk on the dis cruise boards about service being not as good as before since they had been taken over ( i beleive) I had not used them since 2006.

This year we are trying Southern Elegance as they were recomended to me by friends. I emailed them for a quote and received a reply the same day.
see http://www.selimo.net/index.html

By the way I would recomend the 4 night cruise rather then the 3 night -3 night is over way tooo fast. the extra sea day gives you a chance to experience the ship and all it has to offer.

Transfers had to be added in advance. You can not add them at resort.

When booking online using the DCL website there is an option to select them.

It says add transport but only from the airport. Can i change it to pick me up at the resort of my choice?

I've booked my cruise - and only got this option. I am guessing you can change it later Emma as you cant book hotels for Dec 2010 yet (when were going) so you wouldnt be able to organise for the buses to pick up from your resort - if that makes sense?

Oh yes Gemma that makes sense :thumbsup2, i was just wondering how it would work.

Are you getting the bus to take you to port or are you getting a towncar?

Were getting the bus - it would work out more expensive for the two of us to get a town car - and I want to ride one of the dsiney cruise lines buses :lmao: They show you videos on the bus (like the magical express) so I will be happy!:rotfl:

Why can't all buses show Disney videos :lmao:

Has anyone done the dolphin swim/encounter at Nassua (sp)?

We did the encounter when we went in 2004. It was pretty good. I did enjoy it but if I am honest I think I would have enjoyed it more in different circumstances.

We had booked Discovery Cove for Sat 14th August for my cousins 16th birthday that day but on Friday 13th of all dates Hurricane Charley hit - all the other parks reopened on Saturday except Discovery Cove which was harder hit due to the landscaping. The first available rebooking date was the day after we flew home so we used the refund to pay for the dolphin encounter in Nassau. As I said it was good but of course we were thinking of what we had planned which was a full on swim and more interaction.

We had to sit on a platform in the water and the dolphins came. We did the hug, kiss shake fins etc... and the dolphins showed us some tricks. It was amazing to be up close with the dolphins.

I still want to do Discovery cove one day but would say if that is not an option the encounter was a good alternative.

PS I ought to add that of course Hurricanes are unpredictable and not much fun to experience and of course we were pleased that we were all ok and that things hadn't been too devastating which was far more important than our holiday plans but nevertheless it was disappointing!

hi!!!:lovestruc

Just wanted to say - you've mad a good choice booking a Disney Cruise, although it does come with a health warning - It is SERIOUSLY addictive!!:lmao:

I also wanted to echo what other posters have said - we have done both a 3 and 4 day, and I would definitely recommend the 4 day!!:thumbsup2 It feels so much more than an extra day!! :cutie:- The 4 night one was really relaxing (despite it being our first one), but the 3 nighter was over in a blink of any eye!!:)

We did the Nassau (Blue Lagoon Island) dolphin encounter as part of a Bahamian holiday a few years ago - it was very good, although at that time Discovery Cove wasn't around - to be honest I think DC sounds better, but Nassau was still really fun!!:thumbsup2

We have used Happy limo from the airport before, who were really good, and this time we drove and parked at the port. But next time we are staying onsite and getting the DCL bus. We have opted for a hotel that the DCL bus stops at, because that way you leave your bags outside your room at 8am and then don't see them again until they appear in your cabin - sounds really great to me!!:yay::yay:

Does the DCL bus stop at CBR or is it only the delux ones it stops at?

Hi again!!:thumbsup2 I just copied this from an old thread :

Just arrange for the transportation through your cruise reservation. The price is $69 per person round trip (WDW to Port and Port to MCO)

here are your resort options:

Grand Floridian
Polynesian

Beach Club
Dolphin
Swan
Port Orleans Riverside
Port Orleans French Quarter
Caribbean Beach Resort

hope that helps!!:):)
