We are going for our first cruise this summer. We will be driving to Orlando and staying at Wilderness Lodge the night before. Does anyone know if you can leave your car on Disney property and take the bus over? Would you recommend that or just driving to Port Canaveral and parking there? Any insight would be great!!!

Some resorts allow you to leave your car. You'd need to contact your particular resort as to whether they will let you or not.

BUT, you'll have to pay for transfers to the port, and that might negate any savings you think you're getting by not parking at the port. That is, parking at the port may be cheaper than the transfer option. And you'd need to be coming back to the resort after the cruise (additional cost).

The size of your party and length of cruise would be a deciding factor on whether to park at the terminal or at the hotel.
Even though we would LOVE to take the DCL bus, it would cost us $280.00 to do so instead of $140.00 to park our car in the preferred lot for 7 nights and 8 days.
Add that to the fact that though we stay at Disney before and/or after cruises, we live in Orlando and are 45 minutes away from the port. :) I just cannot justify that expense. lol

Even though some of the offsite parking areas are less expensive I still like to park at the port itself. Personal opinion. I just love the convenience of parking in the garage...at the end of the cruise to be able to walk off the ship and right into the parking garage and get our car and be on our way.

OP, the bus cost $35 pp ($70 roundtrip) to the port from WDW or Airport so depending on how many people in your group the savings would not be there to leave your car and take the bus. The drive to the port is so simple and is about an hour or so. Very easy drive. Parking at the port is easy too.

The link below shows the directions and parking fees to park right at the port.

The cruise terminal parking is so close to the boat and very secure. Its worth every penny to be able to control your luggage and to be able to just get going after the cruise. The Disney buses are great, but by driving you can squeeze in some extra hours on board if you show up early.
