Disney Cruise DREAM January, 31, 2013

I'm looking forward to going on the Aqua Duck. Has anyone ever gone on it?:listen:

princess: Leah

We love the aquaduck. :cool1: Just don't expect a lot of drops and speed like a real rollercoaster. It uses water jets to push you up some short hills. We have ridden it several times on the Dream and Fantasy (they are the same). There is one curve that hangs out over the water, but you have to pay attention or you will miss it since it is so short. Having the clear tube is fun because you circle the pool area of the deck and can see everything.

I just found this discussion board last night while researching snack options for the DDP at Disney World. We are spending 5 days at Disney World's Animal Kingdom Lodge before embarking on our Disney Dream Cruise. I'm Jane and will be cruising with DH (Jeff), DS6(Hunter), and DD4 (Hannah). We definitely want to participate in the FE and are in cabin number 5546. We'll try to make the face to face.

When is Pirate Night? I don't think we will be dressing up for that night since I just spent a small fortune ;) on Princess dresses and accessories from the Disney Store. I also booked the kids at the Pirate's League on January 31st at the Magic Kingdom. Should I cancel that appointment and schedule something on the ship? I thought it would be cool to board the ship with two little pirates.

This will be our first Disney Cruise though not our first cruise experience.

Welcome! I'm sure you will enjoy your Disney cruise. Our son (5) really loves going to Oceaneer Club.

We are spending 5 nights at the Port Orleans Resort before the cruise. Be sure to get reservations for dinner at Boma's (African inspired food) while you are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We really enjoy it and try to eat there whenever we go to WDW.

Welcome Jane and family,
Glad you found the board.

I am Kathy and DH is Greg. Great to have another family joining in on the fun.
Pirate night is the evening after we leave Nassau. So Friday evening.

Boarding as pirates would make a really cute boarding photo. They always take a photo of your family as you board and many wear Princess outfits or Minnie dresses or Pirate stuff. It really makes a great photo.

Just make sure you have early appointment to do the Pirates League. You dont want to be late for the ship!!

AK lodge is about 10 miles from my house. We always drive in a back road that runs right in front of AK when we go to the parks. We are there almost every weekend. We just never tire of WDW. However we did stay away from the Holiday crowds as much as we could.

Looking forward to chatting with you as we await the cruise.

Kathy

Just booked this Cruise and would love to be on the FE list to share with you all. We are in room 6098, and have 2 kids: DS-8 and DD-6. Thanks all!!!! We are excited!!!!

We ate at Boma the last time we were at WDW and loved it so much that it was the first dinner reservation I made for this trip!

We also have reservations at T-REX (for just DH and DS), Cinderella's Castle and Be Our Guest (for just DD and I), Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey. I'm on the fence about Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey because I've read mixed reviews.

What are your other favorite restaurants?

WELCOME!!!!

I am Kathy. What are your names?

We recognise your posting name so we must of read some posts by you or maybe been on a cruise with you in the past?
This is our 23rd DCL cruise so there is a chance we may have cruised together.

This is a small but lively, friendly group. Glad to have another family along.:thumbsup2

We love Chef Mickeys. The food is good, it's a buffet and the characters do come right to your table. We have found if we reserve early when they first open, 5 or 5:30 it's not super crowded because most people like to eat later, so the characters have more time to say hello. They are great about posing for all the photos you want.

We have also seen Chef Goofy decorate cupcakes with the kids at dinner by the dessert area. Not sure if they still do that.
I havnt been to the Crystal Palace but I have friends who do it everytime they come to WDW and they love it. I really think you'll be happy either place.

Out of all the sit down restaurants Chef Mickeys is our favorite to go to especially when the grandkids are with us.

T-Rex is a fun place to eat. Be sure and take the camera there. We have lots of photos of us posing by dinosaurs there.

We have looked at the inside of the Be Our Guest Restaurant before it was open and WOW is it FANTASTIC. I think we took a photo of it if you want me to post it for you, or can let you be surprized. Let me know.

Just a quick reminder for the new families:

We have a meet the first day at 3:00 P.M. in the Vista Cafe, deck 4 mid ship.
Hope to see everyone there so we can put faces to our names.
It should be for about 45 minutes because at 4:00 P.M. is the mandatory safety drill.

See you there!!!!:thumbsup2

Since I don't see a question for the day today I will do another one:

If you have been to WDW which is your favorite park and your favorite ride?
If you havnt been to WDW before, which park would you go to if you could go there and why?

My answer: My favorite park is Magic Kingdom.
My favorite ride is the Haunted Mansion.

Kathy

It's time to get this party started!! The cruise is very close now!!

My favorite park is probably Animal Kingdom although the Magic Kingdom is a close second. My favorite ride is Splash Mountain.

Thanks for the feedback on the restaurants! We'll just keep our current reservations, although I realized that we decided to eat at Tusker House this time instead of Boma.

I've seen pictures on the Disney Website and in newspaper articles about Be Our Guest Restaurant and Belle's castle. I can't wait to bring my princess to the castle. She has the Belle costume which I hope she will be wearing to dinner.

What time do you think we should leave the resort to make it to the ship in time? The kids have the first appointments of the morning at the Pirate's league so they should be done in plenty of time.

I've decided to join the FE :goodvibes

Amanda (DW), Dave (DH), Tegan (DD 10) and Bryce (DS 8)

I am not crafty, and thought I wouldn't be able to do it, but after reading lots of posts on the subject I think I can do it. Of course lots will be bought, rather than made, but I read that's ok. Now to work out what to use as an FE.

Are you driving yourself? It's about 1 hour 45 minutes from WDW with average traffic. If you want to have lunch on the ship i would get there by 12:30 so you can eat, then by the time you finish lunch you'll be able to go to your room
So I guess to leave about 11:15 or close to it.

I know you must be on board by 3 p.m.

If you dont care about lunch on the ship you could leave later but always allow extra time in case of road delays or back ups at the Toll Booths.

YEAH!!! Be sure and let Keith know.

We always get more bought gifts than home made items. I have been thinking all day about what i want to give for my FE gifts. No decision yet.
